Hi all. I'm relatively new to this show although I've been watching for maybe a month or two. I'm horrible at names so please excuse me if I just say things like "that flea character" or "that monk guy."
This appears to be a real good show despite my original reluctance to watch. In fact, at first I hated the show (such is the way I work.) When it came out I wasn't yet even into anime.
It has the honor of being one of the first anime shows I like now, and that's actually a very small group of shows. Thing is, I never watched it from the begining and in fact I'm often watching it totally out of order. Thankfully the show is quite enjoyable even when you don't have a clue what's going on.
I don't know how InuYasha met Kigome (the only 2 names I got down,) I don't know how they met that monk guy, I never saw the episodes where they introduce the sword, or really any of the begining episodes.
For some one whose so clueless and cynical, I really don't know why I like this show so much! I just do!

Okay, first, let me explain names:

    Monk guy: Miroku
    Kigome: Kagome
Inuyasha's correct, and how it's spelled out depends on the person.
    Flea character: Myouga
    Demon exterminator: Sango
    Fox demon child: Shippou

And welcome to Inuyasha. I'm glad you like it cause it really is a good show and worth watching. The stories make you hooked and you don't really need to see it from the beginning to know what it's about. Each episode sort of let's you know the entire plot. It's sort of like Rurouni Kenshin in that it has Japanese history, but unlike RK, it's not too heavy on it, so don't worry.

And keep watching CN. They'll eventually go back to the first episodes, although all us Inuyasha fans are praying not this time cause they pass up to episode 34 or 35 and then go back to the first one. They're supposed to have a little over 50 episodes showing. ~_~

    Characters left out
Kikyo- miko that died but is brought back to the living (looks like kagome)
Naraku- evil he is the half-demon everyone is after (dressed in bamboon skin)
Sesshumaru- inuyashas older brother full demon (they have the same father)
Kouga- prince of the wolf clan (he likes kagome)

I'll tell you how they met

    Kagome-inuyasha
Kagome get pulled into the fuedal area by a centipede deomn. She coems out and sees a tree which has inu yasha pinned to it. He looks like he is sleeping. They don't met until he wakes up. Kagome calls out help because the centipede demon is attacking her she runs to the tree and inuyasha is there awake. He thinks she is kikyo

    Kagome, inuyasha-myouga
Myouga is there to help train inu but he runs off we there is danger and whenever possible. They met when he came to tell inu that someone is searching for inu's fathers grave (inu might have known him before not sure)

    Kagome, inuyasha-shippou
Shippou has tricks as his power for a fox demon. he changes into a big ball (monster looking) and tries to scare kag and inu. He ends up taking kag shikon no tama shards to bring out the 2 lighting brother demons (they killed his father). Inu kills them for him and since he doesn't have a home he is with them now.

    Kag, Inu, Shipp-Miroku
Miroku is after Naraku and he is collecting the shikon no tama shards. He sees that kagome has some shards (big piece) and takes her and the shard. Kag escapes. inu and her go after miroku to find the shard piece he stole. They get it back and find out about Naraku

    Kag, inu shipp, miroku- Sango
Sango is a demon exterminator and Naraku sets up a trap for her to kill inu yasha. Inu yasha saves her life and then they become friends. She learns that naraku killed all her family.

The sword (Tetsusaiga) somes into play because Sess wants it. It can kill 100 demons with one swing. It is at sess and inu fathers grave. only inu can use it if he uses it to save humans. that is what the sword is used for. no demon can touch it (it has a barrier)

Need any more answers are something is confussing you. I have seen upto eps. 111

    don't spoil it for me!
Anyhow, it's not that I havn't heard their names 20 times each by now just some reason I have a hard time remembering em. Sorry if I'd continue to say "that monk guy." Every day I remember em a little bit better, though. I got 4 names down now.
Anyhow, I'm starting to think I've seen the majority of the episodes except the first few. Who knows.
[edit]Wait, 111 episodes?? Wow havn't seen that many at all. How long this show been around anyhow? Thought it just came out less then a year ago!

It has been out for a while. I just wanted to make dure thta you were not confused. Since you have seen only some it might just get confusing by whats going on. Watch Cartoon network that will make it less confusing. It plays over again July 5 or 6 @ 12:30 a.m. eastern/pacific

111 eps? Hardly, more like 114 and still counting. This show's probably gonna end up going to about 150 eps before all's said and done.

I don't think it'll end at 150. With how the show's following the manga and how there are filler episodes and how the manga STILL is not done and it's ahead of the anime by quite a lot, I feel that it might end at 300 or something. I even doubt myself though cause I really don't know and I hope it continues even after 300 episodes ^_^
