  1. Hi Andrew,

your synth demo in the Files-section is a very interesting
    promenade-patch. I`m looking for a choir-sound like the
Tomita-Promenade-sound. Do you know, how I can create a similar
    choir-sound with a modular system?
Other voices you can hear in the voice area of the
    www.Modular-Planet.de. The Talk-voice (Voices-Pro-Area) was inspired
    form tomita-voice-sounds.

    Greetings,

    Josef

Thanks! That demo in the IsaoTomita Yahoogroups files section was done using
my white ARP Odyssey. It's a non-modular synth, manufactured around 1972.

    >From memory, there's more than one type of vocal sound that Tomita used in
the Promenades. There's the opening mono voice sound and then there are the
chordal choir sounds that come in later.

Generally speaking, I think it would be very difficult to reproduce these
sounds using solely an analogue modular system. Those sounds are of course
"real" choir recordings from the Mellotron. Further processing was done using
the Moog's filters and EGs, and who knows what else. : )

With my modular, I've had luck creating static vowel sounds, and even vowel
sounds that change from one to another (example: eeeyyiii...) . I think it
would be very challenging to re-create the Tomita choir sounds though. Maybe
using a larger modular system with a filter bank and a lot of other modules
    it could be done...

I know there are other synthesists on this list.... Has anyone else ever
tried to simulate these types of sounds on their analogue synth/modular?

    Thanks,
    Andrew
