Like a phoenix, I rise from the ashes to make a post about goings-on at A-Kon.

At the FUNimation panel, they announced that they've acquired Gunslinger Girl, which is cool. They also announced an uncut, sub release of both Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh!, which has eliminated my primary gripe with 4Kids in an instant.

At the ADV panel, they announced they've licensed Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, E's Otherwise and Cromartie High School. Also showed trailers for previously-announced titles like Peacemaker Kurogane, Mezzo DSA, Cyberteam in Akihabara, Getbackers, the Excel Saga Imperfect collection and Chrono Crusade. That's "Chrono" with the two Os. During Q&A, they mentioned that it was actually because of the original Japanese rights-holders that they fixed that up. I didn't have any problems with that but others seemed indignant about it.

That's about it. ADV continues to license just about anything they can get their hands on. An interesting kon all around.
