CPM has released a little information about their release of Narue no Sekai. First off, they have a web site up now. Nothing terribly impressive, but it has the standard things needed to get people interested in a series: story, characters, trailer, wallpapers, etc.

The real reason I make mention of it is that CPM is going to be releasing the show in a new and interesting way. As Anime on DVD is reporting, the entire series will be released all at once in a box set (with an as-yet-unknown price). But that's not what's interesting. Recognizing that a lot of people won't want to buy an entire box set of a series they may know nothing about, they're also releasing a standalone DVD with just one episode (plus 45 minutes of other trailers) as a promo disc for only $7.99. Then, if you like the series, there's a $10 off coupon inside for the box set, so you basically get your money back and then some if you decide to buy the box set.

It's an interesting idea, to be sure. Depending on how the coupon works, it may be a good idea or not. If it were something of a rebate rather than an actual coupon (and, it could be, we don't know just yet), it would be better for the many people who will buy the series online (and, thus, will not have an actual person to present the coupon to). So, we'll see, but it's good to see some creativity being shown by the distributors.

UPDATE (1/12): CPM has now announced that they were be trying the same thing with demo discs of Slayers, Revolutionary Girl Utena and Descendants of Darkness.

I got a chance to view The World of Narue at AnimeNorth. I wasn't impressed. Plus, I was with a few people who all wanted to leave early and not watch the second episode. It's just not my style of anime.

This anime, The World of Narue, suddenly came onto DVD, and no one had ever heard of it. Sometimes when companies pick up an anime before it even has a chance for the first episode to be fansubbed is a very bad thing.

Narue no Sekai was fansubbed completely in summer 2003 at least by 2 groups:
    ANBU and AnimeJunkies.
I have seen both fansub versions, and later bought the DVD set.

I really like this show, in fact it's my favorite romance/love story.
I wish there would be more series with truly nice main characters,
as well as likeable support characters...

Sorry, my mistake, everyone has their own different tastes.

Yeah, it would be boring if everyone had the same favorites ^_~
I even appreciate your comment because it was very considerate ^_^ .
The mistake is understandable, since you probably searched for the English title,
and the series is neither very new, nor well known ( sadly ).
