My thought for the week is do you ever notice that Asuka of Neon Genesis Evangelion is German but her name is a Japanese name

NERV is a German word, but the organization is only successful in Japan. Arubaito, the nihongo for part-time job, is stemmed from german. Asuka is also only 1/4 German, but was raised there. So, it shouldn't be TOO surprising. :D Japanese actually has a lot of words rooted in German, or so my Sensei told me.

Anyway, Kenshin looks so young in the anime, but looks pretty darned grown up in the first OVA. I think that was pretty odd. And he looked TALL in the OVA too.

Cowboy Bebop and Bubblegum Crisis (both OVA and TV) are two anime that I know of that they say Sylia Stingray and Faye Valentine as opposed to Stingray Sylia and Valentine Faye. As in, they westernize the order of names, as opposed to family name first.

Speaking of Sylia, she shares practically the exact template of Infurita from El Hazard in the 2040 series. Even right down to the color tabs for her hair! I think ADV ran outta ideas when they came to Sylia. And paint too.

In Aa! Megamisama! The Norn's names are Belldandy, Urd, and Skuld. In Viking'thology (hehe) their names are Verdandi, Urdthur (sp?) and Skuld. Oddly, only Skuld's name is unchanged and is even SEEN spelled S-K-U-L-D. The other two have a slew of other spellings, but it seems Kosuke Fujishima has chosen to stick with Belldandy and Urd instead of classical Scandinavian names.

Furi Kuri is also touched by Hideaki Anno. Probably why it's so...wierd. =P Also, the vespa that Haruka uses is actually pretty darned fast. It's 180 cc's...which is pretty high up for a scooter/moped. Supposedly, the creator of FLCL bought one to the exact look of Haruka's...'ceptin' stickers (which may or may not be the vespa in the credits, in which case, he put 'em on) and it's not "super turbo"ed like the alien guitarists.

Mimamiji (sp?) from Fruits Basket looks a LOT like a girl. I thought he was one, I mean, he's a guy and a rabbit? I guess.
