    Stop Drawing Bad Manga!

That's the name of the article.
I've been arguing that point for a while.
    It's basically all about originality

I just read it, and yup, it's a great point. A lot of people I know who like to draw, end up making their drawings based off of a hit series. Like when I ask a friend if I can see their stuff, I immediately know they like a certain artist like CLAMP or Toriyama. :( And a few other friends who draw, they always fall into drawing school uniformed high school drama-queen girls and the pretty boys they adore. :glazed:

it is really hard to find a style that haven't been used and if you think that you've come up with something new then someone else will yell out that you stole just a bit of the figures right ear from another style.

where did you all get inspiration to draw from? I think that you have watched atleast a picture or something else to get inspiration.

Ok it isn't always like this but the most artists have gotten inspiration from someone/something else so if they say "stop creating manga themes which already have been done" then what can they draw? I can't come up with a theme that haven't been drawn before

I agree that there are many comics and stuff like that which are just like others and it might get a bit annoying after reading/watching the same stuff all the time but what can be made that no one has done before?

If someone really like to draw, for example, Dragonball and have specialized in just writing these characters then they can do it if they want but they might not sell anyway

I would have written more about this but I don't have the time for it now but I might get back to it, I might be outta my mind about this but I dont care

good article. and too damned true...sigh
you aren't an artist if you plagerize someone's technique. there's nothing original there.
i think, when you're learning some aspect of art, coping is fine; it's the bes way to learn. to look at the drawing, to know the element used in the drawing. then, you draw it yourself. practice makes perfect.
i used to draw from western comics all the time. joe madueria(spelling..<Cry>) was my big influence after jim lee. i drew poses and crap all the time. i'd copy out panels into notebooks. then, i moved on to anime after sailormoon got me back to it. then, it was coping anime styles. then i found manga. i copied that. but everytime i copied, i learned something. and the next original drawings usually had some influence from the new found knowledge. i still, constantly reference comics to get ideas from on how to tacle drawing problems. tho i've now added some web comics to it, and those now are mainly for layout and pacing type ideas.
but most ppl that copy, don't bother to try to evolve with the coping, to put any part of themselves into the copy. and that's a sad waste of talent damnit...

Everyone else already said it, but I'll say it again: Very True!

I hate seeing those mangas... I also hate seeing art like that. I started an anime and manga club at my school and it was pretty pathetic... we had an origional art contest, and every boy in the club except for two had drawings that looked EXACTLY like some DBZ char, except thier clothes and eyes were a little different. Or they had highlights or an afro or something. It was really sad.

Wow, that article is soo right. I'm glad I didn't fit in that category. I'm working on my own manga but I don't wanna do it for the money. I wanna do it cause I love to draw and I have quite a few story ideas in mind. I'm not that good so I'll need a lot of practice.

Thanks for sharing that article. ^_^
