I watch japanese films whenever they're on, and I've seen some good ones. Ring 1 & 2 are top class horror films. Hanabi is a really good cop thriller thing. Then there's Pantyhose Heros. Hmm, what to say about that one... It's about a pair of cops who pretend to be gay to catch some criminals. It may sound like a large steaming pile of moould old crap, but it was actualy pretty funny(especialy the opening sequence), and it had some really good martial arts in there. I'm sure I've seen other films, but I can't think of any right now. I've never seen a J-Drama though.

Has anyone ever seen Shall We Dance? It's a really good drama, and it's kinda funny at some parts. I saw it at a college theatre where they were showing foreign films, it wasn't necessarily a japanese film fest but there was the one japanese film there so I was lucky.

I've seen Shall We Dance? it's one of my fave Japanese movie!!! Kat, you are lucky to have a chance to watch it. I love the part that middle-aged men who are not good at dancing are practicing dance hard! They do it very seriously, but it's funny to see their dance. They have no rhythmic sense:):) They are typical Japanese cause we don't dance so often compered to foreigners:)

I watched this movie - it was called "Lessons of Life" or something.

    It's about a radio show...

the funny about it , is that the voice actors are too selfish and they begin improvising against the director's will - for example, instead of "Michael Peter", the guy named himself "Donald MacDonald" (heard: Donardo Macdonardo)

    man, it was hilarious.

at the end the hero returns to earth (they had to make him a space pilot) riding a rocket! Oh boy.

    It really made me laugh.

hmmm, the only movies that I've really seen from Japan are the Godzilla movies(someone shoot me if they're actually Korean). That and 7 Samurai ;) Which is a really great movie and classic.

The Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon-ness is Chinese Kenster. Chan's Chinese too, although...he *did* do City Hunter. (Hehehe)

To be honest, I've wanted to watch J-Drama and stuff, especially those old samurai flicks when they would do a quick strike among a storm of sakura and shout out "Cherry Blossom Bladed Slash." Or something like that.

I've glimpsed J-Soaps on some odd channel, but I can't find it anymore, seeing as how the cable company switched all of the cable channels on us.

I don't think we're talkin' about them bein' in eigo, Kenster. If anything is in any english, it's probably the subs. I saw Crouching Tiger in dub, and it was utterly pathetic...and that has staved me off of Imported live drama forever. Dubbing doesn't work as "well" as it does in anime because characters don't move their mouth in a thousand different ways.

I hate dubbed live action films. That **** is wrong. Bad memories of butchered Bruce Lee films.
Anyway, I saw Rahsomon yesterday and Yojimbo today, both directed by Akira Kurosawa and staring Toshiro Mifune. They're damn good. Samurai's 'n **** rock. I'm going to Sanjuro tomorow and 7 Samurai sometime next week, and I'll probably see The Hidden Fortress and The Bad Sleep Well too. There is an Akira Kurosawa season on at the IFC. Which is nice.

I've seen only a couple J- Dramas. I've seen GTO, and The power of love( I forgot the title in Japanese), I have also seen The Wedding Planner, and few more that I can't remember.
I think I have seen a GTO movie to... I'm not very sure if it was a movie though. Oh, well you guys know what I mean.
