I just put down $200 for the Limited Edition Box Set with Black Escaflowne action figure:D but any ways I just got done watching the first disc and it is great show, the noses are a little funny but hay, that is the only thing I can find wrong with it.

I honestly have to say that I love both the series and the movie for various different reasons. I will admit that at first I was skeptical about watching the movie--the art style is very different and several of the characters underwent drastic character changes. When I finally decided to watch it, it was just to say that I'd seen all of Escaflowne.

^_^;; Well, it's pretty obvious how that turned out, I suppose. There are still definitely some things I like better about the series, but there are a lot of things I absolutely love about the movie.

I prefer the movie. Why? I'm not really into that kinda anime, right now. I dunno, but I'm into the more comedic ones. I know it's good and all, and I might like it when I get to watch it again later...but...yeah.

The movie was straight through just Van and Hitomi. I didnt' really care much for the other characters other'n that blond dude. Well, there was Van's mentor general dude...but he bit the dust early on...so ferggit that. Plus the movie had amazing animation, although Hitomi looked more off...it's cool, since the pure animation made up for it. It also had "Sora" one of my fav songs in Esca, other'n "Yakusoku wa Iranai". I wrote all about that in the "movies" forum though...since tehre's also a thread of that there.

I own both and they are both very good. The noses are a little funny, but the time you finish the series you love them and accept them as the art style. I loved the movie. It had unbelievable animation and I like the battle scenes. I wish it had more melef action, but hey what are ya gonna do?

I heard about an escaflowne video game. Anyone here of this. I think its supposed to be for playstation and only in Japan. If so, it may be worth getting a translator.

It's an anime made by the creators of Macross Plus about a psychic girl who is transported to another planet, called Gaia, where Earth is a moon. Excellent plotline, awesome music, and giant mechas, what more could you ask for? :)

Heheh, everyone says that. There's sort of an adjustment phase when you start watching Escaflowne... but you're right. By the time I saw the movie, the "normal" nose style in it looked weird to me. XD

Absolutely right. The Escaflowne PSX game was never released outside of Japan. It's a 1997 release, I think, and it's very difficult to find. I actually just recently got extremely lucky and found it on eBay - the only copy I'd ever seen - and once it arrives I'm planning to scan the entire manual, since even most fansites don't show anything relating to it. All I've ever seen is a few screencaptures from the in-game movie sequences.

Unfortunately, I probably can't actually play it unless I get a Japanese PSX or a converter chip for my PS2... -_-; Still, I got it more for the point of obsessive collecting. :sweat2:

A sequel? I've never heard of that. As far as I'm aware, the official releases for Escaflowne are the series, the movie, two manga versions (shounen and shoujo), a videogame for the PSX, and I think two sound dramas.

Heheh, agreed. ^__^ For such a great series, it's painfully hard to find places to connect with other Escaflowne fans. Yay for M2A. X3

no, there isn't a REAL sequel to Escaflowne **or unless you mean some other manga or something** if there was, a lot more people would know of this. i love both the movie and series. the series a bit more since it's longer and the characters are more lovable:) Escaflowne is by far the best anime for me!!! 2nd is Inu Yasha:D WoOf....
