I saw it in the IFC a couple of days ago. Thought it was very good.
For those that know not, it's a Japanese cyberpunk film, shot in poland with polish actors and in polish.
It's directed by Mamuro Oshii, the director of Ghost In The Shell, and all the major staff is japanese, but the polish cast is extremely good, great acting all round.
As for plot, I thought it was a lot like the Matrix(minus all the **** hollywoodisms) crossed with Serial Experiments Lain, in all it's trippy mind-****ing glory.
It's about an underground VR game, called Avalon, which is like CS on steroids(and which actualy looks like a damn fine game). The protaganist, Ash is one of the best. She kicks *** and chews bubblegum, and she's all out of gum. Then she finds out about this place in the game called "SA zone." What is it? Will she ever get there? Is this more interesting than it sounds? Most certainly.
Like I said, it's really trippy, and nothing ever quite looks right due to the excellent imagery. Great soundtrack too.
So in short, if you haven't seen this film, you should see this film.
If you have seen this film, you should post.
