Celebrations Away, little girlie...

welp, guess what time of year it is? 2 years ago, i joined this forums, and what did i do? i posted about 20 times and then stopped. i had lost internet...my connection to dsl yanked as i moved back with my parents. going to a 56k that maybe got 44k if it was happy. i gave up on the internet that day. and then, a year later, i discovered, "hey! i still know my password! cool. i should see if otaru still posts..." and thusly, rejoined. and lo, did my posts swell in the months to come. 250 in 4 months, not one a spamming post. proud i was. but!
that fall, a horrible thing happened, my computer decided something for me. it looked at all the files on itself and went, "hey, what's this FAT thing? i dono't need that...it hink i'll delete it without even saying anything."
and thus, the Berry was most furious as her computer was dumped onto a harddrive that had room as a way to back it up. and the hard drive was formatted.

which brings us to my announcement.

guess what time of year it is again kiddies? yup, it's time for the yearly formatt. stupid computer with it's half installed winxp. the boot.ini got messed up. soo now i can't get onto my hd from my computer(last i checked, lemme finish here). sooo, went over to the same friend as last time, and did the dump and back up(which i had half finished as it took 2 edits to the boot.ini to kill it). no formatting there tho. now, i need to dig out the prog made for formatting my hard drive( and yes, i do NEED it...grrr). now, next time this happens, i will really make something clear. i don't mess with files i dono't understand at the suggestions of friends that say, do this, and put this there instead. it was meant well, and that's not the part i'm upset about. i won't say what makes me upset, as that's meant for verbal abuse...you know who you are...your shin? that's mine...feel my pain...lol
soo, that being said, i'm not sure when i'll get to the format and reinstall of everything...i know have a chance to install winxp(if i want..and i really don't want to...but i promised to think about it...) with out worries of service packs...(anti-YARRRRR). i still think 98, because that's not too much of the 1.4 i won't be using...but, i still need to think it thru...

soo, i wono't be on too often, so if you need me for anything until i say, "welp, it's done...cry" your best bet if you need me is to either A) snail mail me...heh B) send my cell phone a text message or call me said phone or C) email/pm and hope that it isn't anything urgent...most of you will only be able to do option C...

 

Good luck with the formatting BB, make a note of all those drivers you'll need from your Control Panel (if there is such a thing still in XP), backup whatever you think you might possibly ever need again (even if it doesn't seem important) onto CD, and you'll be grand...

I've done it "many's the time", nothing like a good clear out!

Hmmm...hope the re-re-re-reformat goes along well. It's always the amalgamation of the little things that screw up the big things, ain't it? Well, it'll all turn out for the better...so you can have an OS called Microsoft Windows 9P. Or is that....X8?

it's almost happy now...the new icq is buggy....fyi. as is mediaplayer 9...sigh...
