  1. Hello,
I'm new to this list. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me of a site on the net, or a mail-order company, where its possible to get this CD at a reasonable price?
    Thanks.
One other thing: I'm familiar with Tomita's albums from 1974-84 and am onlynow looking for some of the 'generally hard to find' synth albums he has done since then....any particular recommendations?
    Cheers,
    Owen

Is $29 reasonable enough? It's a fairly standard price for Japanese CDs in my
    experience.

There's a How To Order button at the bottom of that page.

Hi Owen, and welcome to the list!

Well, Bach Fantasy is actually a pretty good place to start, in terms of
hard to find synth albums! And I seem to be the only person I know who has
two other ones which I'm fond of, 'Storm From The East', full of ultra-lush
synth pads and textures and 'Misty Kid Of Wind'. The latter seems to be
    really hard to locate.

Bach Fantasy uses samples of Tomita's old analogue synths.

This reply is a bit pathetic, I've decided; I'm sure others can come up with
    some more imaginative ideas! :)

Well it should be as it went out of print around 10 years ago.

Soundtrack CDs tend to have just one run at the factory unless they are
something that a fan base keeps wanting. In general, Japanese
soundtracks don't stay available after the initial batch sells out. On
the other hand they seem to have done a new run of "Storm from the East"
("Blue Wolf") as it seems to be offered a lot.

I categorize Japanese releases by several levels of availability. "In
Print" means any retailer with access to a Japanese CD wholesaler can
    get one on demand.

I give the general "still on shelves" designation for albums recently
unavailable but many copies are still in brick and mortar locations.
This is important since many net outfits just print out a wholesaler
list and don't physically have a copy of whats on their list. So while
the companies, who usually have the better prices they can only obtain
    "in print" items.

I actually visited Comfort in person last November. They are a hybrid
since while it is a shop they only have a small stock and their niche is
they were the first place in Japan to take overseas orders in a friendly
manner. Okura just gets the CDs from a wholesaler and ships them out, so
in other words its only a fluke he can get something out of print.

Then I have a term "long out of print". I don't know the exact deal but
I think most places return their old stock? Anyway I don't think I've
ever seen anything of interest at a shop thats been out of print more
than a year or two. I was actually surprised. I thought that if I hit
enough CD shops I'd run into more out of print material still on the
    shelves, I didn't.

Thats where the used and collectors markets kick in.
