An anime company sued a fansub group for copyright issues.

    More info here.

It doesn't sound like it's all bad news. I think, more than anything else, it's an 'official' act, that they kind of have to do to keep appearances up, while not necessarily meaning anything bad by it. Although it's not really clear what they intend.

While it may not be clear what their intentions are, I don't believe that Media Factory's actions are representative of the entire industry. I think, the only problem it will cause is that people will stop fansubbing this company's works, for a while.

Sorry for such a confusing post. I didn't intend to jump all over the place like that. If I remember, I'll edit it later and make it more readable.

I don't see the problem at all. I mean, it's only a "formal warning". In *any* case, most anime nowadays is licensed really quickly, and put out in DVD format quickly as well. Honestly, there isn't much fansubbing going on anymore, I think.

True, there are groups on the sly that still do licensed fansubbing, but, honestly, most groups stop as soon as the anime is licensed.

I didn't even think they'd bring THIS out here...
