Anime Baka

    Do stupid characters annoy you or make you laugh endlessly?!?
    For me some characters like Goury in Slayers is veeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrry annoying but sometimes he puts a smile on my face [​IMG]
    But Andy in Cowboy Bebop is very hilarious from the moment he appeared [​IMG]
    He's really Cool [​IMG]

    Personally, I luv stoopid characters as long as they aren't overdone...if I find their stupidity somewhat believable, or if I can't believe how stupid they are, they usually end up being some of my favorites...

    Now, if the anime is menat to be serious, we've got problems...

    My philosophy in anime is the same as in life. SEND IN THE CLOWNS!! (clowns being an old stage term for the 'fool' characters used for comic relief)
    I thought Keitaro in Love Hina was one of the best characters ever, personally. Moron = humour, to coin a phrase (though I'll probably never say it again ...). I have always loved stupid characters, such as Pinky (as in 'and the Brain') and Lancelot Gobbo of The Merchant Of Venice. However, a little misplaced stupidity can ruin the drama of a situation. Can you imagine if Gundam Wing's Heero said "I will *POIT*!" instead of "I will kill you"?
    All in all, stupid characters are a virtue in anime, but remember what Shakespeare said:
    "Virtue itself turns vice being misapplied
    And vice sometimes by action dignified"
    Just a little Romeo & Juliet, 'cause I'm in that kind of mood today.

    Ahhh, the stupid characters are FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!!!

    An anime without comic relief just puts me to sleep...unless there is awesome action in it. And I think stupid characters are the comic relief of anime.

    I found that it was hillarious in Slayers when you thought Gourry was just a simple minded barbarian or something...then he whips out his Sword of Light and kicks some @$$!!
