DC and Warner Bros are hard at work for the next Batman film for all us Dark Knight fans.

The tenative titles look to be between: Batman Begins & Imtimadation Game.

Premise: This is an "orign film" with no ties to the previous BATMAN films directed by Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher. The first half of this film will feature a young Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) on his journey to become The Batman. This will be done through a series of flashbacks to Bruce's childhood on up to the point where he takes on the mantle of The Bat. At that point, the film will become an elaborate action adventure in which The Batman will be heavily featured. Villians include Dr. Jonathan Crane, Ra's Al Ghul, mob boss Falcone, and others. The movie will also feature a young Sgt. Jim Gordon, and of course, The Batman's trusty butler/partner, Alfred.

The target release date is July 2005.

This should be very good to see.

    In all honesty...

It's things like this that makes me lose all hope in humanity. :\

Frankly, the Batman movies took a drastic turn for the worst the moment the third movie came out. No one could ever do Bruce Wayne or Batman better than Michael Keaton did. Hell, no one could ever even chalk up to him.

But now they're just starting to drag it out. I mean really, how many movies can you make of different people in the same tight-leather costumes, running around just to kick and punch someone and end it with some corny catch-phrase or cheesy line?

I for one am boycotting this movie. :p

I would also agree that the movies went downhill in a hurry from the third on, but for a different reason - Tim Burton wasn't allowed to direct them after Batman Returns. After that, they focused more on Batman's gadgets and butt-kicking abilities, and a whole lot less on his and the villian's personality.

The have Chrsitian Bale as Batman. From what I've seen they are returning the series to its darker rots like Batman and Returns.

Christian Bale is an awsome choice for Batman, he basically played that role in the movie Equillibrium, which was an excellent movie. I think this movie will redeem the Batman franchise from the horror that was Batman and Robin.

I will go see this when it hits theatres.

I don't care if they got bloody Adam West to make an appearance in the movie.

Flat out, no one will ever be able to do Batman the way that Michael Keaton was able to; and the way that is is the best. At least, that's my honest-to-God-opinion. ;)

Personally, I'm excited about this one.

I'm a huge T.Burton fan, curse J.S. for ruining Batman, and this new one looks like it could be dark like the ol' Burton features.

Reasons why this movie might be pretty good:
    1. Christian Bale, yes he was pretty sweet in Equilibrium
    2. Christopher Nolan as director, Mememto anyone??
    3. Scarecrow and R.G. as villians!! Finally!!!
    4. A slew of good actors/actresses: Morgen Freeman, Ken Watanabe, Katie Holmes, Michael Cain, Ruteger Hauer, Lian Neeson, Gary Oldman!!!!!
    5. Restarting the storyline, throwing out the horror that was 3 and 4
    6. Carmine Falcone!!!!!! Yeah LH and DV!!

    Thats my 2 cents people.

    Oh for the love of...

Even if Tim Burton did a medicore job with the 2 first batman movies, I am not going to see this one. They will just ruin it, trust me on this.

    Lord!

You people with your pessimism. Sheesh. Honestly, I don't understand not seeing a film just cause you "know" it will suck. Most of the revenue for cult films is video sales anyway so if you do see it and it BLOWS just never watch it again. I vote you give it a chance. Just see it, then you can criticise to high heaven, you would have every right too. How is the Batman francise ever supposed to regain its glory if no one will give them a shot at it? I say give every movie the betterment of the doubt.

Except if its Joel Schumacher film.

    Cause he's the antichrist.

    Meh.

Not to add to the pessimism, but I've never been too fond of how the "Origins" kind of movies turn out. I'm all for Batman, but I prefer the adult, butt-kicking version, and I'm not too keen on following him through his boyhood, watching his parents die yet again (that scene is grossly overused in all works of Batman), and then his early adult years as he realizes being part of the law system isn't right for him, and so on...

Cool, more Batman villains again. I dread to think of how badly their stories will be mangled this time around, and wonder by which method they will die this time - because in every Batman movie they get axed.

I'll keep tabs on it, but I'm pretty sure its gonna be more of a one-time rental rather than theatre quality.

Nolan's directing? I was going to just pass the movie off as an attempt to cash in on the franchise (which my cousin would drag me to see anyway, but that's beside the point), but maybe I should reconsider. Based on what I have seen of his work (i.e. Memento and Insomnia), Nolan is a great director and will be able to bring some life and new creativity into the Batman movies. Plus, I love Ra's ah Gohl even if I have no idea how to spell his name. :anime: Who is Ken Watanabe playing?

Umm well I would agree that Keaton is my favorite but I can't say he will ALWAYS be the best Batman. Thats kinda...well...dumb. Only a few guys have had a shot at the role, two of them under a crappy director. Val Kilmer, though personally I favor Keaton, did a swell job of being haunted by pain in Forever. The scenes where he talks with the shrink are awsome.

Who knows how well Bale will do? Like I said earlier, why dont we all see the film before damning it...

    meh.
