    Series: Battle Angel Alita
Release Date:1991-1995 [Give or take a year. U.S. Realease was 1998]
    Genre: Anction/Science Fiction
    Writer: Yukito Kishiro
    Creator: Yukito Kishiro
Number of Episodes: [There was infact a series but only two episodes were made so I will not get into it.]

Overview: In the future, not many are completely flesh and blood, but also metal. Cyborgs, whether it be a few limbs or all of their bodies besides their brains. This world is the world of the Scrap Yard, a desolate city under the floating city of Tipares. Where tipares looks like a paradise to the miserable souls of Scrap Yard, Scrap Yard itself is over run by crime and turmoil.

The only thing stopping Scrap yard from being a complete hell is the bounty hunters that work for The Factories[ The producers of food and supplies for Tipares.] Among them is the good Doctor Ido, who one day stumbles across a cyborg body and head in one of the many piles of refuse.

Building the cyborg a new body, he names her Alita and goes about giving her a home. But she soon discovers his secret life of bounty hunting and decides she wants to help. As she regains memories, she realizes she posesses the unique fighting style of the Panzer Kunst which was made and perfected by Cyborgs.

The series follows 10 years of Alita's life, where she battles enemies, allies and her own past.

Personal Opinion: This is my very favorite manga series. Reading it, it's what got me addicted to manga. Each page is beautifully done, and the plot itself will take you on a ride. Twists and turns and characters you fall in love with, then hit yourself for doing so, it's an amazing read.

I know some people shy from older manga but this is true a Science Fiction work of art. What always got me about it is how graphic and raw it really is. Yes, there are parts in it that seem far fetched but other are so well explained and visually made that you can over look such things. True, this is not a book series for younger readers, but it is for the Science Fistion fans out there. =P

I'm interested already in this :D. I'm a Science Fiction fan (although I don't have much other than videos T_T), I'm still one :). I'm rather interested in the fighting style Panzer Kunst and Alita's ten year life in the manga.
