    Battle for Sarisa

Ivah sat over the fire cooking a nice fish dinner for himself. He had found some mushrooms in the woods, witch he had come to the conclusion of being safe, in witch to eat with his fish.

He could smell the meat cooking over the fire as he turned stick to make sure the fish got cooked evenly.

Once the fish had finished cooking he began to dice the mushroom into small pieces using a sharpened rock he had found near by. He had just began to eat when he heard a near by bush begin to ruffle. He immidiatly jumped to his feet and snaped towards the bush, "Who's there, show your self."

To his supprise he good hear the noises of a rather small animal. Embarrassed he sat back down and began to eat, but once more he could hear the sound of the bushes moving.

"Bah just another animal," he insured him self.

    "What's just another animal?"

A soft, almost irritated voice coming from right next to his ear startled him a bit.

There, hanging upside down over a tree branch by her knees, was a beauty of a young elven girl. Her long untied hair hung behind her delicate face in an even, controlled manner, bringing out her large ears into the open. Her eyes took on some of the darkness from around the campsite, compounding the strained look they had as she focused on him.

She hung so close beside him that even her whispered question came out sounding full and clear. Not unusual for a batling. What was rather stranger was the fact she had made it to where she was soundlessly. Even the smaller animal had made at least a rustle when it moved through the bushes. This other figure before him had somehow coasted through the trees to her current position before swinging down to her current position.

Although now he could see her easily. The sound of her small heart beating, the light breeze impacting around her features, and her steady breathing gave him the image of her in his mind. It was far easier to focus on her now that she had made herself known.

She had to have been watching for some time, but hadn't broken the silence until now. She hung there, eyes unflinching from him, breath quickening, as she impatiently waited for him to respond.

"By the sound of your voice I can tell you are a female, and by your attitude towards my remark I would guess you hail from the forrest." He said with a smug look on his face.

His face became emotionless as it usualy was as he said, "What brings a creature of the forrest here to inspect an outsider?"

He sat silently as he wait for an answer. His eyes seemed to be looking right at her but they were more off in the distance.

Unlike most batlings, his eyes had no color. This made it obvios that he was almost completely blind.

He listened to every breath she took, every little beat of her heart as he sat looking forward.

Eamane swung backwards over the branch to land deftly on her feet. Then turning slightly, but still watching him, she scrunched her nose.

"Creature of the forest, is it?" she rattled her voice, giving it a harsh edge, despite its cute and appealing sound. "I'd say you look more like you're to fit the bill."

When he didn't move or argue back, she turned a bit to tussle about her cloak, finally tired of running her eyes over his form.

Just what are you doing, wasting time with this strange guy, anyway, Eamane? she pondered to herself. He definately doesn't look the type to hold a conversation. In fact, he looks a bit brutish.

She looked back to see him take a moment to continue his meal, and then with her back to him tried best to figure out a complete sentence. She was quite uneasy with what she had to ask, and as she slowly brought out the words, the elf pressed her index fingers together nervously in front of her.

"Actually sir...I was kinda just...kinda...that is...I was wondering exactly how far I've gotten....meaning, well..."

Finally she just gave up and spat it clearly out.

"I'm lost. Can you tell me where I am?"

"You have strayed pretty far for a forrest dweller. Most don't even walk to the edge of the woods," he said staring at the ground now. "Yes I do know where you are, you are sitting just west of your forrest, and as for your remark on my clan location, I am actualy a cave dweller, from the proud Bat Clans to the south," he seemed rather saddened to mention his home as he went back to eating.

He gave his ears a little twitch as the wind blew by ruffling through the leafs.

The batling sat with his legs crossed eating his dinner when he asked, "You are still here?"

Hayashi watched the pair at the camp fire with blanketed amusement. A small smirk reached her lips, tail waving slowly behind her.
She steped into a shadow and seemed to 'melt' into another form, something on four legs instead of two. After a moment of ruffling and fixing fur she steped out carefully, padding closer to the fire. She only came within range of the fire light but no closer, standing on the side across from the pair, head lowered slightly, sniffing for a moment. She looked first to the Batling and noticed clearly he was blind, her tail waving harder for a moment at that sight. Then to the elf who was talking to him.
Her silver-blue/darkgrey fur seemed to shimmer in the firelight as she watched them. She promtly sat down, tail curling over her front paws, head lifted and poised as if daring either of them to try and come any closer. She hadn't made much noise other then a little bit of shuffling on the leaves on the ground but that was all.

Eamane was a bit softened as she noticed the other withdraw at the mention of his homeland. She momentarily dropped her rigid stance as thoughts of her own exile flashed in front of her.

At his prompted question, she snapped back into realization that she hadn't moved. "Ah, just west, then? Well...I suppose that kinda clears things up a bit."

She about-faced, and took one whole step before hesitating again. She raised the tone of her voice a bit, washing away a lot of the edge it had to it as she half-heartedly trained her eyes over the wild animal that circled the camp before it set itself down near the fire. "You're a bit far from home yourself, Bat-san. Sort of coincidental...I guess..."

Alright, Eamane, she told herself, catching some breath. You're a bit lonely, sure. But this guy here just isn't the ideal company. You've got your bearings, so just be off.

Instead of taking her own advice, though, the elf crossed to the other side of the fire, to where Hayashi was poised. She slowly crouched down to where the animal was brooding, softly smiling to it as she extended a face down palm.

"There, there," she cooed to it. "It's alright. I have no intention of hurting you. Are you hungry?"

She stopped a moment, realizing she didn't have any food on her, despite her offer.

Hayashi watched the out stretched hand of the elf carefully. She knew without the elf even talking that the elf ment her no harm. But any way she scrambled back from the hand as if she were scared but before the elf might have reacted she seemed to melt back into her wolven form, resting in a crouch before she rose to her feet, padding into the light once more,"Actually I'm not hungry. I ate not to long ago."

She grinned baring her fangs,"I'm only here since other animals detected a fire and some people talking. I came to see what was up. The animals weren't worried about you miss elf. They were worried about him."

She waved a hand toward the Batling before shruging,"They haven't seen many Batlings around that they can remember."

    "Neither have I, actually."

Eskar had, in fact, made some noise as she had approached -- she was a Human, after all. Having heard conversation and seen the glimmer of firelight sparked her curiosity. She knew there were wanderers -- one should never be so foolish as to think they are alone, she would often say to herself --, but to find what seemed to be a camp in the direction she was heading still surprised her.

She stood at the edge of the little clearing, her arms crossed over her chest, her stance confident, smirking the slightest bit, but not with malice. Rather, she was amused at the coincidence -- or perhaps the dealing of fate -- that she should run into others along her way to... wherever she ended up.

She stepped forward and stood beside the Batling, assuming that he had made the fire he was cooking his fish at and that this was some sort of indication of hierarchy.

Not that it would say much, thought she. What a racial blend! Most interesting.

She eyed the Wolven and the Elf, smiling at each, and rubbed dthe tips of her fingers together.

"Are you all heading somewhere together?" she asked in an attempt to begin friendly conversation.

By this time the young batling had allready finished his meal and had stood up. His head moved arround as if he were looking from face to face. His ears would often twitch picking up sounds and movements.

"I am sorry but I was about to leave. If I want to hear the entire world I must travel further," Ivah said as he began to walk away from the fire.

There was realy no where he had to be, but it was a batlings instict not to interact with other races....

The Wolven was by far faster then the batling and seemed to half morph to rest on all fours and bound after him, barely sliding past his legs before she ended up sitting infront of him,"Awww Is the wee little batling scared of hanging around other races unlike himself? I'm sure he could learn much about humans and elves."

"And perphaps us LightHeartis too...." said Mint walking out of the trees. It was destiny that brought you all togeher, I feel something speacil in all of you.... Anyways, My name is Princess Mint Ravenscar of the LightHeartis. I am pleased to meet you all. Please al of us must sit down. I am sorry if you think this is strange but when I get a hunch.. just please sit down." she said again walking over to the warm fire. She hadn't felt such warmth for a long time and it felt to her as heavenly as ever. The Flames seemed to lick her cool skin and a smile grew on her small face. Then she asked, "Do you need help Batiling?" she asked. "Just tell so I shall giude you here if you wish to come that is." she asked politely.

"Surely the Batling needs no assistance," Eskar said, gesturing to the creature and gazing upon the LightHeartis with a proud smile.

She took a few steps to her right so that she was able to see everyone in the firelight.

Adding as an afterthought, she said to Mint, "I prefer to stand."

"I need no assistance," the batling replied still staring at the wolven in front of him, "and I do not wish to learn more of the other races."

Ivah spread his arms with his wings and began to flap until he had rose into the air a short ways. He took off and landed some where in the darkness away from the others.

Once he had landed he continued to walk letting of an ultrasensative noise now and then to help guide him.

She looked only slightly fazed and slightly hurt. Hayashi rolled her eyes and headed back to the fire,"I for one wil hang around till the moon falls once more and day begins. Then I must return to the woods. She morphed into the wolf as soon as she was within the ring of light, settling down, watching each in turn, ears lifted, paws rested in a relaxed position, clearly showing that she would listen to every word they said and reply as she needed to.

Eamane jumped with a start as each new figure made its arrival. Boosting herself up into one of the lower trees she started scouting around the perimeter.

"Just what's going on here?" she demanded, looking quite agitated.

She scanned each of their faces, pausing momentarily to take in each individual.

"I find it a bit strange to run into so many people at once. If this is how the outside world works, I can accept that. Then again, I'm almost certain it's not."

A large sound like a growl erupted from her stomach, causing her to falter and almost fall off the branch Eamane was peering down from.

"Err...I don't suppose anyone has something to eat?"

"I could go catch some meat. I'll find something big enough to share with all. We still have the Batlings fire so we can cook it if the need comes along that anyone doesn't like raw meat. I've eaten both."

Hayashi shifted her weight before morphing to the wolf without waiting for anyone to answer her and took off deeper into the woods.

It only took a few moments before she returned and draging a young female deer with her, in her teeth. The only mark that killed the deer was a slashed throat. The wolfs tail wagged as she got closer to the fire, finally draging the meat close enough and looking to Eamane, still in the same form and settled down to sit, tail waving slowly, waiting for the elf to come do what she wanted to the meat since the wolf had mostly gotten it for the elf, not herself. She didn't need to eat. She wasn't even that sure what elves liked to eat and hoped the elf didn't mind. She finally backed away from the meat and stretched out at another point around the fire, close to the warm flames.

As best she could, Eskar held back a grimace. She was not accustommed to eating anything of animals, but she knew it was an offense to reject something that was given. She shrugged and looked up at Eamane.

"The oustide world is different from yours and mine," she said to the young Elf, winking. Then, struck by realization, she added to all present, "I've not introduced myself."

She extended her left arm to her side, put her right hand, as a fist, to her heart, put her right foot behind herself, and bowed.

"I am Eskar doff Gaisafonak," she said as she rose. "I hail from the Na'bai clan of the forest Na'buruk." She smiled placidly at the other three. "Now, who might the rest of you be?"

Eamane went pale and her eyes went wide as the deer was dragged into the open area. She seemed locked in place as Eskar's words dribbled in the background. The elf could barely hear anything, doing all she could to stand at the sight of the dead creature.

Eskar got through with her introduction, however, the words coming out just as Eamane finally brought herself to look away from the lifeless corpse.

"I...I must be going," she spat, wheeling about and jumping softly from the tree, her back to the fire. "It's not permitted to speak with your kind. It...It only leads to trouble, I have been told."

"Hold on for a moment," Eskar demanded more than asked of Eamane. She made her way to the younger-looking girl and did not stop until she was just a few feet behind her. "I happen to know -" her irritation was made evident by her tone "- that some Elves are not permitted to wander away from their clan. Not only that, but it is a great offense to not introduce yourself once someone else has done so. That's common knowledge."

She stood erect behind Eamane, her arms crossed and her eyes narrowed in a frown. A bit of a smirk appeared on her face; she said in a lower volume so that only the Elf could hear, "And I heard you say you were lost. It's obvious you're as disgusted as I am. At the very least you owe me the courtesy of an introduction." She shrugged, raising an eyebrow, still smirking. "Unless you're some barbaric kind of Elf I've never heard of."
