I never watched a lot of Bevis and Butthead - in fact, I don't seriously watch animation other than anime, unless it's far above the average quality of what gets shown on American networks. Most cartoons are pitched at kids, and toilet humor stopped entertaining me years ago (well... for the most part, heh).

Bevis and Butthead just doesn't hold a candle to most anime in terms of presentation, animation quality, storyline, humor... Need I go on? I prefer series that have some level of coherent plot and/or character development.

Honestly, I never liked the brand of humor that show glorifies. Basically, I hated it. So no, it's not as good as anime in my mind. In fact, I don't think the two should even be compared.

Depends on the anime of course.

Don't look at Beavis and Butthead as the heroes; think of them as a great parody of moronic losers and good targets for ridicule. It's actually knowing people like them that makes it funny.

But yeah, it's no where near as good as a lot of anime. But it's certainly better than some anime.

Then again, I haven't seen B+B for years. Maybe I've outgrown them in the meantime, who knows? lol

If you just stack B&B vs Anime without considering any sort of modifiers like target market, budget, era of production, method of production and so forth, then no, B&B isn't as good as anime.

Add in those modifiers and compare B&B to an anime of similar quality level, genre (parody of real life idiots), target market, productioin method and so forth, and well, I dunno. Haven't seen an anime like that.

No. Bevis and Butthead should remain the same as they always were.

When i was younger i loved that show. But i don't think anime would suit the show and i don't think that type of humor would ever suit anime either.

Same. They wouldn't do well as anime.

I loved that show when I was younger, too. I remember trying my hardest to stay up until midnight with Neph to watch it... hehehehehehe.

I thought that it was funny, in a very crude way. I like King of the Hill better.

i never found it funny, just plain annoying. the humor was really bad, and i was lucky if a got a single laugh out of an episode. The random music video's just left me scratching my head, and their moronic laugh that spanned the whole series non-stop just made we want to kill the creators. IMHO the only good thing to come from B&B was Daria. ^_^.
b&b to me is the worst animated series i've ever seen. :sweat2: south park succeeded where b&b failed.

Well honestly, how can you consider even comparing B+B with Japanese anime? It's like apples and oranges.
I'm not the kind of person who just watches "cartoons," There are a few American shows (animated) that are funny, and I never thought Bevis and Butthead were.
I mean, I've seen like evry episode (and the movie) because my brothers liked them, and I watch whatever they watch. But I was NEVER one for such crude, disgusting humor.
I mean, some junk on that show ws just plain gross. I don't see how anyone could laugh. The only thing funny was how idiotic the main characters acted.

I guess i'd have to agree with that. Daria was good and I only knew she was in their class when I was watching an episode or movie from Daria. The music videos were strange and I only knew one or two every 30 episodes. :anime:

I always saw Beavis and Butthead the same way I view all of Mike Judge's characters: parodies of American stereotypes. They are obviously just plays on that type of teenage dumbass who just sits around listening to loud music all day and never really does anything, and has no real future. Their brand of humour always amused me immensely, and I'm one of the few I know who is not ashamed to admit to having seen the movie more than once.
While the show was funny, however, it lacked in some serious points. Mostly, Mike Judge's cartoons always have terrible animation. Also, being from MTV, B&B couldn't have really said the stuff that would have made the show much funnier, since that network is, in spite of its marketing campaigns, totally afraid of pushing the envelope. Look at what other animated shows accomplished, like Comedy Central's South Park, or the Canadian-made, slightly controversial (and more or less uninteresting) John Callahan's Quads. Shows like that cover subject matter that MTV would never even look at.
Of course, the best moment of Beavis and Butthead was when they watched the video for The Safety Dance.
