Anime Best dub you've seen...?

Ranma 1/2, nothing else even comes close to touching it. Admittedly, Bebop has it's good points, but I didn't agree with some of their voices... Eva, well... it's no longer Shinji, it's Spike...well... and then there's the wholesale slaughter of the word 'Evangelion' by several characters...
I have yet to see another dub that even satisfies me, let alone approaches the level Ranma 1/2 set forth.

Bebop was pretty good. Gundam 08th MS wasn't too bad, and I thought the Big O dub was decent as well.

 

I would have to say the best dub I seen is Record or Lodoss War. It's been a while since I watched it but I can't remember a single thing that annoyed me about the english dubbing. Kiki's Delivery Service comes a close second.

I'm not so sure about the Ranma dub, it sure as hell gets on my nerves. If you are from the US I can understand why so many people think so highly of it but for me hearing people with american accents trying to pronounce japanese names is just excruciatingly painful. If only for the way the pronouce Ranma's name I would hate it. Instead of just saying Ran-ma it comes out as Raawn-ma. Argh!

 

Best Dub, eh? I have to agree with BB as far as Hellsing goes, that was really nice. And I agree with Izzy, Eva was done nicely, of what I've seen so far. I also thought Vampire Hunter D: Blood Lust came out nice.

 

I really shouldn't be such a nitpick, but Bloodlust isn't technically a dub in english as its original language track was English.

The Princess Nine dub is absolutely fantastic! (It's one of the only series I watch dubbed first, then subbed. ^^) And I love the Slayers dub. ^_^; It's nicely done. And I LOVE the Rayearth dub. *huggles it*

Yeah. Princess Nine and Rayearth, with Slayers following close behind. ^_~

 

I can deal with the names.. I mean it's only wrong if someone says it is. Bad acting on the other hand is bad no matter how you look at it. Much rather have voices I can stand and an alternate pronunciation of some foreign names that crappy acting (see Love Hina aarrgghhhh. well, that was mispronunciation and bad acting hehe. least Ranma is only one of those)

Had high hopes for Excel, but it was not to be..

 

Macross Plus was really well done.

And, IIRC, the voice actors for Isamu and Guld had done voice work for Robotech as well!

IIRC Gulds actor did Scott Bernard and Isamu's did Rand.

 

you know, some subs are great but I can name a few great dubs.
1. Ranma 1/2
2. Gundam Wing
3. Dragonball Z
4. Neon Genesis Evangelion
5. Transformers

 

aren't those characters of the T.V. show Zoids?

 

I must confess i found Eva's dub far inferior to the subs , something about hearing the japaneese Shinj mumbling "hoi" to everything ,really hammers home the fact that hes socially retarded for all intents and purposes. Plus the english guy *the name escapes me* is used in tonnes of other stuff ,makes it less distinctive.
I wasnt a huge fan of the Gundam Wing dubs , If I remember the Blonde guy/Trowa barton ones were awful ,especially the Blonde guy who had some fairly cryptic lines alot of the time .That said everything else was grand, and any time I try to pass off a Trieze Kushrenada musing on Fate and Destiny , It doesnt sound half as cool

One I will say Is Patlabor2,one I can imagine alot of you havent heard of , amazing film and an amazing dub, Japaneese dub doesnt hold a candle to it

 

I cant appreciate the Eva dubs at all. Asuka and Misato's voices are by the far the worst, don't get me started on Kaji's voice acting too. Shinji's I didnt mind so much.

One particular thing the English will never get right, and I may sound like some kind of twisted person..but in English dubs, the screaming is bloody awful! The most forced, unnatural and downright unbelievable screaming comes from Anime dubs. Dragonball Z would be a perfect example. Whenever japanese-dub-Shinji screams, I get shivers down my spine.

Best dub by far I've heard would be Princess Mononokes. Real professional voice acting there. Gillian Anderson, and that guy that allways does the fantasy films, christ..someone find out his name for me. He did the Boar gods voice and the naration at the very start. He also does alot of the voices in Warcraft 3

2nd best Dub I've heard is Nadesico. :bleed:

Definitely Mononoke, no contest. They got a really good writer to do it and great actors as well.
