Well I just went and read and watched the Best Games of 2002 awards from Gamespot. This year they did it differently than previous years. They still had PC and platfrom games split into two different categories. So when they did a Best game award it was the best game for consoles, but all the other general awards were mixed up between all 4 of them. But there was no best this or that genre (i.e. RPG or action/adventure) award for all consoles. They were actually as split as PC was from all the other platfroms. They also had different (or new) genre awards than you could pick from if you were going to look up a game. For instance genres if you to look up a game are: action, adventure, driving, puzzle, RPG, simulation, sports, and strategy. Genres for console game awards are: action/adventure, shooter, fighting game, platformer, driving game, RPG, and than they had traditional and alternative sports game awards. For more info look up Gamespot's Best and worst Games of 2002

Two big surprises for me is that they did not give GTA Vice City the Best Game (of all consoles) award. But it is no surprise to find that it was Best game for PS2. I am not sure if I should spoil which game was the best game. Ok I am just going to tell you, it was Metroid Prime. What a shcok and an upset huh? Also for the best RPG for PS2, I was shocked to not see Legaia 2 as a nominne even when they did mention it in the video. Also to all PC game fans the best PC game of 2002 is Warcraft III.

Any other comments you guys want to say about Best (and worst) games of 2002? What do you think should have been the best game of 2002?

I thought alot of great games come out this year. The Resident Evils for Gamecube. Vice City, SOCOM, Suikoden III and alot of other for the PS2. And all the Sims expansions for PC. Not a Xbox fan at all so I am not up to speed with games for it.
But there is certainly better games coming out next year. Can only think of PS2 ones, but the ones I am thinking about are Final Fantasy XI, The Sims, Silent Hill 3, Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness, and lots more I am sure. Oh yea there is also a Final Fanntasy game coming for the Gamecube, I think it is called FF Crystal Chrinicles and it looks really good. Would buy a Cube just to play that.

those people don't give good ratings to any good games, all they rate is those first person shooter games....oh i hate those kinda games. i think that well my list for best games would be,
action- Kirby advance (super fun awsome game)
RPG- thats hard to say but it might be WA3 i played a bit and loved it.
adventure- probably kingdom hearts i like that game too.
PC- i would stick with war craft, i suck playing them but i love the games though.

well thats the only type of games that i like- keep in mind that i have a odd sence of gaming taste.

ummm Mog hate to break it to ya', but Kingdom Hearts is a RPG and not an adventure game. And what does WA3 stand for?

And if anyone is interested EGM is doing a reader's choice awards. It is where you can pick the winners of each catergory, like best RPG, best action. best PS2, and so on. You can find it by going to www.gamers.com The polls will be open until January 7th 2003. If you want you can post what you picked here.

I voted GTA Vice City the best game of all consoles and I have not even played it yet. I am going to go try and rent it today though.

Actually, I'd probably believe that MK did better than DOA, if only for the fact that it's not so repetitive after a while. Dead or Alive has this little bad thing with me in that it's REALLY short. I mean, not really many characters, and the only thing you really do is get costumes for the girls. And the guys to, if you really want. MK has all these special moves, hidden characters, fatalities, and so there's more to do IN game than Dead or Alive.

Don't get me wrong, I own Dead or Alive 3, too. (And Xtreme Beach Volleyball) I know it's a good game. But, as I see it, Tecmo made it for a lot of people wanting to play. As in, it only really shines when you play with someone. MK, at least, has endings that are story based. DOA's are just clips.

And besides, ever notice that MOST times newer games that came out midyear and up do better in polls than the ones that came out at the beginning?

Hmm, I haven't picked games yet. So, I shall.

    PS2:
    Kingdom Hearts
Ghost Recon (PC version's waaaaaaay better though.)
    SOCOM

    XBox:
    Splinter Cell
    Metal Gear Solid: Substance

    GameBoy Advance:
    Metroid Fusion
    Kirby

    Gamecube:
    Metroid Prime
    Super Smash Bros. Melee

Man, I can't wait for another demo day at work...so I can try out all these new goodies and games. :D

I Believe The Best Mk Games Were Made On Good Ol' NES.
The N64 Game Mortal Kombat 4 Really Deceived Me. The Graphics Were Ok But The Main Story, The Techniques and Such Weren't Too Good. The Characters In Mortal Kombat 4 Were Too Changed From What They Were In The Old NES Games And Also There Was Too Much New Characters And There Was a Pittyful Story To Explain What They Were And All. They Didn't Look Too Good Either.
On The Other HandMortal Kombat Trilogy For N64 Was An Excellent Game. I Never Played MK: Deadly Alliance But I Will Try Soon

Metroid Prime takes the first person shooter award from me, easy, with Jedi Knight 2 coming in a close second.

    Animal Crossing wins Most Innovative.
