k umm, I'll go with all Rock in general, but I chose Heavy Rock on the polls. I also like gothic, metal, some r&b i suppose, a few pop songs.. and did I mention rock? :p

    ~~Kind Regards, Cady~~

I have no real choice. Only because my choices change so much each passing hour that I can't make up my mind.

Some points, I love listening to Fats Domino. Others, Linkin Park. Still others, Lacuna Coil. Then, I'd want to hear some Dixie Chicks. After that, a bit of Guns 'N' Roses with a follow-up of James Brown. Then, head on home and listen to some Michael Jackson, Koda Kumi, the pillows, Wu-Tang Clan, Babyface, Depeche Mode, Janet Jackson, AFI, Cradle of Filth...

and the list goes on. =D

I just enjoy music. Unless it's poorly done.

And, user[rayvaughn], where's my acoustic "Welcome to the Jungle"!? =P

No doubt in my mind - Grunge. It has streaks of punk, but at the same time the music is non-confrontational, depressing, and introverted. The music generally has melody. I usually think of grunge as a sensitive, emotional kind of punk.

Such narrow choices! The poll should only have one choice for the rock family, not 4. :( And where are all the dance genres? What is music if it's not meant to be danced to?

Anyway, I believe that the best genre would be one that's versatile enough to create any mood, be able to tell stories, be able to be mixed into other genres. Should be a genre where some songs are varied enough for you to: listen to, slow dance with, dance wildly with, and do skilled dancing with. Probably the only genre that is that versatile is hip-hop, which is pretty popular anyway. And it's a great genre for creating parodies of other genres too.

I consider moshing to be the noblest style of dance.

i think i love european techno and dance more then any punk i've heard from the last 15 years. besides, im a devout follower of Daft Punk. and to me, they are the european power houses in dance.

ps- if i kill myself after writing one half ass song, will i be a martyr to grunge? i think not. f*ck cobain. he was a suicidal wreck with no actual talent.

Actually, you might be a martyr to grunge if out of all the songs you wrote, the one you hate the most becomes an anthem for a generation.

I'm sick of people either worshipping Kurt Cobain or hating him for no reason whatsoever. I'm also sick of people judging him when they haven't heard any of his good songs.

Psst, your post is a little redundant. The three bands you listed as not real punk are, as you said, not real punk. I'd say... power pop or pop-punk.

And you gotta love Operation Ivy right?

Ska is my favorite. Followed by anything in Alternative Press that is Dashboard.

Punk has so many sub-genres, it makes my head spin.
