Well! All I have heard as your best video games are advanced new games... but how about old Vidoe games like:
Tales of Destiny; Tales of Phantisia; Final Fantasy 4, 5, 6; etc...
This is the time to remember our every first video game!
What was it? and who much did ya enjoy it ? :D and what was your very first console.
^___^ how could've forgot this important topic!!
    (:)sweat: is it important??? hehe))

    Time to show my age...

Very first game, huh? Ooh...that would've been on the Commodore 64, but I can't remember clearly enough to sort out which came first. My dad had three cartridges, and it was one of these. I now still love all three to this day....aahhh..

Donkey Kong - You know, that very first Mario game, back when he was a good old carpenter. that big monkey Kong stole his girlfriend, but he was ready to take her back!

BC's Quest For Tires - yup, the caveguy from the comics. A dinosaur stole your girlfriend this time...so you board your unicycle and trek crosscountry to save her.

Jumpman Jr. - don't remember the story to this one. Basically you climb ladders and jump, dodging bullets to grab flowers... Wonder if he has a girlfriend too?

    But C-64 isn't a console, is it?

My first console was a Nintendo, and it came bundled with Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt.

    BakaMattSu, on a nostalgia trip...

Like so many others, my first console game was Super Mario Bros.. One of my cousins was the first person I knew to get a NES, and I played it at his house.
Of course, the best old-school video game would have to be the original, the first, the greatest, Final Fantasy. Where else could you hear this:

"Light Warriors, you impudent fools! I, Garland, shall knock you all down!"
    "Key, key"
"The prince must wake soon or the Dark Elf will dominate."

    You can't beat the original.

My friend had this cartridge for NES that had 52 games on it. We were HOOKED. It had Tetris, Super Mario Bros., Islander, a couple of racing games, a few fighting games, and this game we were all hooked on at one point. (Her mom "baby-sat" a whole bunch of kids of assorted ages) It was this circus game where we got to the 5th level. 1st was a kid on a lion jumping through flaming rings, then there was a jumping-over-and-from-ball-to-ball thing, and this ride-the-horse-and-jump-with-the-kid-before-you-get-knocked-off-the-horse, and there was another one I can't remember before the 5th one, which was swing-on-trapeeze(sp?)-but-jump-on-trampolines-to-get-to-the-next-one. It was SOOOOOOOO COOOOOOOOL.

    Lesse... ^^; Link was good. And TaleSpin...Dang. There were LOTS of good games. Ooo! Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers! ^^;;

Yeah... I always feel like an amateur around people that say big RPG games... :catgirl: Very proud. ^^

The first console i ever owned was the SNES - i missed out on the 8bit console era due to my stubborn committment to my beloved C64 (RIP). I only had a handful of games for it but Super Mario Kart & Secret of Mana are among the ones i'll still remember when we'll be playing games such as FFXX and StreetFigher II: The Infinity Saga Remix ;)

    fan credibility

my first game, and a game I still have, is the Ranma 1/2 fighting game for SNES. It came with a converter to play japanese games and all the story was in Japanese, but it's still great fighting fun. And Happosai is a B*tch to defeat unless you're pantyhose tarou.

    *SIGH* Aaaahhhhhhhhhh old games

Here's a list of my favorites:

    For Atari 2600:

ADVENTURE - you were this little square (aka WARRIOR) who needed to rescue a chalice or something from a maze. Level 3 is IMPOSSIBLE!! No one can beat that!

    E.T. :) Ah old times...

Raiders of the lost ark - i could never win this game so i left it.

    COMMODORE 64:

Summer games, summer games II, winter games.

Midnight Magic Pinball. I used to play hours with this little thing

In search of the Most Amazing Thing. A very slow RPG. I was winning but the disk got damaged :(

Mickey's space adventure (the disks were damaged too! BUAAAAA)

Bugaboo - you were this little flea that wanted to escape from an underground maze. I lost it also

Let's see, what else - ah of course! The best new games for the C64:

World Karate Championship. I liked it a lot, until i found out that Black Belt was the most advanced level you could get :/

Project Firestart. 2DPlatform shoot 'em up, mystery/horror/sci-fi. 4 disks, you needed to exterminate these green jell-o mutants from the ship, set the self destruct, rescue the damsel in distress (who was SO BEAUTIFUL i even dreamed with her :D ) and get out of the ship before it destroyed itself.

Gateway to aphsai: Pretty good, so darn addictive. Too bad you could never get out of the dungeon! What kind of game is that?

    IBM PC:

Prince of Persia 1 & 2. Two of the best games ever seen.

    Eye of the Beholder 1 & 2: Roleplaying hack&slash.
I wish they included a set to make your own stories/dungeons.

Out of this world: Amazing graphics that engulfed you in this alien world. About a scientist who was playing with a particle accelerator (and antimatter) but a lightning blew him up to another world. I wanted a sequel...

Flashback: Quest for Identity. Got so popular it arrived to the SNES... with inferior quality. I wish the sequel had been 2D, too - but they made it 3D and with vector graphics, so only the best PC's could play it

Ah those were the good times... but wait! Here come the best!

INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUZADE - THE GRAPHIC ADVENTURE!

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis!

LOOM - i loved the story of this fellow, Bobbin threadbare who was a young magician. Unfortunately, the story was 100% linear (replay value: ZERO). I wish i could have explored more of this wonderful world.

Leyend of Kyrandia by Westwood studios. Don't you love those forest graphics? The most beautiful were the gems and the emerald cave.

I wish there was a single RPG with not hundreds - but thousands - no, tens of thousands of screens to explore, and thousands of NPC (non-player characters) to interact with.

The secret of Moneky Island (My name is Guybrush threepwood! Prepare to die!).

I think the sickest old game is Pong.
Who could resist the power of pong, I couldn't.

    But really my favorites are:

    Super Mario Bro.
    Contra
    R-type
and a bunch of others cluttered within my brain.

To this day, me and my brother both still play our old NES games (our first system). We still love and play, of course, Legend of Zelda and the Super Mario Bros. games (especially 3.. how can you NOT love turning into a raccoon?). By the time Sega and SNES came around, I fell into the Mortal Kombat craze that was happening around my area at that time and really got into the Breath of Fire Series due to the first game and thanks to that, I've played everyone through (Now if only I can beat IV -_-).

I can no longer take the early Final Fantasy Games seriously! DAMN YOU CREATOR OF nuklearpower.com and 8-bit theatre!

    Re: *SIGH* Aaaahhhhhhhhhh old games

Ah memories....Epyx was always my favorite name when it came to C-64...The "Games" games (Summer, Winter, California, World) were always a fun ride, even though I stunk at a lot of them (disqualified usually :)) and even though a lot were tiring (The faster you rotate that stick, the faster they bicycle, run, or swim...)

I wasn't as impressed with Gateway to Aphsai as I was with Temple of Aphsai...man, those monsters appearing out of nowhere would startle me! Especially Vampires....ooh they're nasty...

Eye of the Beholder was also A great series...I *almost* finished the 1st, played an hour or so of the second, and tried about a minute of the 3rd...:p Someday I'll go back and finish 'em...

The Secret of Monkey Island I hear ya there! "Look Behind You, A Three-Headed Monkey!"

In fact I still love a lot of "point and click" adventure games...someone mentioned Sam and Max Hit the Road, and Full Throttle's great too...:)
