Recipes BJP Cook Book?

There are plenty of room for editors. Considering this is a cook book with LOTS of catgories.

I am waiting to see what Rag has for now. We will have to give him some time.

I doubt the recipes for Chocolate milk and cereal will be in. If people don't know how to make that then they are in trouble. Which makes boiling water a no.

Shijin, Rag, Sphinx, and I are editors thus far. Rag will be doing the web layout. Will you also help out with editting Rag? What you are up to is plenty of work.

Anyone else interested in editting here is what we will be doing. We will be checking/editting the recipes. Deciding what goes where and what goes into the cook book. If possible trying the recipes out. If possible making pictures of the recipes. We will also converse about any ideas that may come along.

We will be giving this sometime. It has only been like 3 days.

A few ideas like having an easy to hard scale by each recipe.

 

Pictures are good. If they're uniform size, I'd like to include a picture on every page that I am able. Shall we say... 200x200 for a picture of a recipe? Bigger is ok, my concern is whether it will break the look of the page.

As far as how it's going so far- slow. I've got this. (Only Desserts is working) I'm having trouble finding a suitable background image, and I'm a bit slow with html. I am making progress, however. If anyone wants to make me up a bg, it'd be helpful.

I'm working on it. It's a good experience for me, and I'm happy to do it.

In any case, let that page be a kind of guide for future recipes, try to keep them to that format. I'll work together an index containing links to various sections, and from there work together a list of links to recipies.

For example, the existing recipe will be accessed via:
Cookbook index > Desserts > Triple Chocolate Cake

This'll definately take me some time, but I'll put some work into it as often as I can. Once I have a layout set up properly, it'll be a lot easier to add to it.

As far as suggestions, even tiny little things like moving something around or a name or two, are very welcome.

For the index, should I list the categories alphabetically or should I order them some other way? Like, Entrees, then side dishes, then desserts, or something like that? In an order that you'd want to use them.

Category suggestions are good, too. I've got Snacks, Entrees, Side Dishes, and Desserts so far.

As far as editting, I'll have to look at each pretty closely to html-ize it, if I notice anything that's missed, I'll correct it. However I'd rather you guys handled most of it. As long as the recipe follows the layout I've got, I can handle any small errors I notice.



I'm only going to leave the one recipe in there and not add anymore until i have the page working- fewer pages to edit. But after that I plan to add every recipe in this forum to the book, and I'll add any more I see posted afterward. Let's keep this thread to just conceptualizing, planning, and creating the cookbook, and keep all the recipes to separate threads, make it easier to follow for me, ok?

Okay seperate forum for recipes would be a good idea. Saber did give us thumbs up for this project.

Rag can you get the few that are here?

Ideas:

1. Have a page of the members that have submitted recipes. Maybe then have them link to their own pages with recipes they have submitted.

2. Adding in Hints and Notes. Hints will be to make the recipes easier. Notes will be for something you can make different from it and etc.

3. The Catorgories I have are:
Appetizers
Bars
Beverages
Breads
Brunch
Cakes
Cookies
Desserts
Meat, Dinners, Main Dishes
Salads, Soups
Side Dishes
Vegetables
Snacks

 

I was thinking I'd add the name of the member that submitted it next to the name of the recipe in the index, and underneath the name in the recipe page, and it would link to their BJP profile. That sound ok?

I can definately include these if they're given, and I can make it look a bit more interesting, too.

A bit heavier on categories than I was expecting, but definately do-able. I'm not going to complete more than the one I've got going now though until the styling is ready. After all, the more pages that exist, the more I'll have to edit with any changes. I'd rather keep it to the minimum while it's still under construction.

What I've got planned now, is a simple notebook coil on the left with a textured background throughout, although I will need someone to make/find me these. MSPaint isn't exactly the most capable image software :/

 

I am on the case. Give me a second. Hehe. I did find a book. I thought that would be neat. Maybe have some of our wondeful artist create a book cover for the main page?

 

A book cover would be nice. I could use it as a splash page, give it a bit more class. Perhaps Ciel's BJP arch from the main page, centered, and stick with the same background? Something new, perhaps?

 

We should have an art contest. It would be like the T-Shirt contest, but only for the cookbook.

User cereal would be for breakfast but people should know how to make that.

Could we have a grading scale by people who have tried the recipe?

 

Already done, Ciel said it was fine, and not to disinclude photos as a possiblity. If you'd like to write up the contest however you like, I'm a bit short on ideas right now.

Plus this cook book was your idea in the first place.

I just found a quick way to make meatloaf.

I just need the background image. Something grainy, sort of a papery look, I think. I'm not sure how to do the coil on the side, but I can figure something out, if you can manage that for me.

Ah, thought we lost this topic. Glad to see people are still willing and able to do this. Bash I'll send you a PM, I can't do squat in anything with "Photoshop" in its name.

 

A simple little treat that I like to do only requires a banana, and honey.

Squish the banana with a fork, until it looks like smashed poop (^^)

Add a bit of honey on top, and mix. It's kind of tasty, but lots find it odd.

It's not really a meal, but it's a nice snack I like to do every now and then!
