hehe i think i spelled it wrong, but, maaa! he's not the best writer per say(to me anyways) but he did have some very well thought out ideas and a very intricat world. and that's what i erally love. the world he made. it's so unique. and one day, i shall make it through the silmarillion...that is one hard read tho...tehn i will reread the hobbit and the Lord of the rings trilogy. then the lost books or what ever his son is calling them...lol

Some time I shall read the books. Period. You'd think a big fantasy fan like myself would have done so by now, but the roots of it all just haven't caught my interest yet.

The closest I've gotten has been the animated Hobbit movie (gag!)...and the excellent new Lord of The Rings Trilogy that's started release last Fall, and will do so this and next year...

But I really ought to do that sometime...read Tolkien that is...

I think its the Books of Middle-Earth or something. And I still need to read the Simarillion. Tolkien is awesome, and his stories are very deep and have much meaning to them. Another great author was his friend, C.S. Lewis, who wrote such works as the Chronicles of Narnia and the ScrewTape Letters. I made a pic of Smaug from The Hobbit in 1998. here it is:

You draw that Seraphim? That's COOL.
Tolkien(speelling is right) kicks ***. He pretty much invented modern D&D type fantasy(like all orcs & goblins and ****). I've read the hobbit, the lord of the rings and the silmarilian a few times, and I'm re-reading them. They all rule. You should ALL read them. The silmarillion is very hard to get through, the first half is really slow and confusing. Everyone I know read the first few chapters, then just gave up. Persevere, it's worth it. As a matter of interest Tolkien invented middle earth only as a place to put his languade that he invented(elvish). I'm glad he did.

Tolkien Is the Father of Fantasy Writing.. He set all the ground rules and ever since ppl just add to it or go by it.. Most ppl dont like his work because it can be slow.. But i dont think so.. not The hobbit and LOTR anyway.. But he was a genius.. and so far ive not found to many authors who can match him as far as fantasy goes.

Tolkien is a great writer. But I admit, I sort of......nearly fell asleep on the second book of Lord of the Rings. --; It got kinda boring with all the talk and whatnot.
