This is a movie(okay documentary) that I haven't seen discussed here, which I thought was odd seeing as it was such damn good documentary. I just saw it last night and man it was amazing. I'd advise every one to see it.
I'm just wondering what other peoples opinions were on it, especially Americans.

Do see it. It's brilliant. You'll want everyone you know to go and see it once you have yourself. It's very scary and moving but also very funny, especially the animated history of America.
Actually no. The funniest stuff is the real life stuff that is so ludicrous that you laugh out loud and are simultaneously scared stiff.

This is the best film I've seen in the last year... I love the way it draws you in with humour and then you realise the seriousness of the situation.

    FINALLY! I watched the thing.

I bought it yesterday at a mixup (CD store).

    As I was saying...
man, how do you US guys live with so much fear being imprinted in their minds everyday?

Black male assaults quik-e-mart... some man just shot some pedestrians... the cops got another burglar... killer bees invading... anthrax terrorism, the Washington sniper...
    MAN!

That is sick. Did you know that so much fear and paranoia is actually ill?

    Let's take a look.

    * free (as in liberty, not price) guns for all!
    * free horror news!
    * free oil from iraq! :D - er i mean, the culture of solving all your problems with violence... (at least that was what the canadians interviewed said)

You know, this reminds me of 1984's "Big brother is watching". Like, i feel as if americans are being constantly BRAINWASHED into thinking there are thousands of possible enemies just waiting to sneak into their houses and wham!

Call them terrorists, killer bees, the black guy next door, the white guy next door...

Worse. It's a spiral of violence. The more people get afraid, the more guns they buy. The more guns there are in the country, the more killings there are. I just hope they don't reach the critical mass yet... :-S

I think Moore's "corporate cops" would be a good idea. a tv show about Cops pursuing corporate thiefs (like the guys at Enron), and slamming them against the cars... that'd be cool :D .

Still. This rate of MEDIA violence really scares me. This guy on the documentary said that violence was reduced by 20%, but the media coverage on violence went up by 600%. Now _THAT_ is something to worry about.

No wonder there are so many people scared in their houses.

Of course, the US putting dictators everywhere and planting terrorist seeds across the world, is something that should concern us all. (F*** the CIA. If I was more paranoid, i'd say they're a secret organisation trying to take over the world. Uh... remove the "if I was more paranoid". I think that's pretty evident by now :D )

Anyway, you MUST see this documentary. Moore gets 2 of the guys who had been shot at Columbine (and survived obviously) and goes with them to the place where the killers bought their ammo.

    I still can't believe i bought it for only $16.00 !! :anime:

BfC has far too many "omissions" and manipulative edits for my taste.

Well, I think that, in essence, BFC shows why the US citizens are becoming so violent...Anybody could be afraid if the media shows all that violence..

And I also agree that with Bush..the USA is going to go to the hell -.-

Yeah, that's true, but there are many other confirmed trues.
First, it's not any kind of violence. It's violence that puts 'in danger' the 'american lifestyle'.

Second, if violence makes us fear, then all we should be fear of ourselves.

Anyway, that fear is felt in other countries too, but as a fear to the US

When a filmmaker edits speeches, takes footage from speeches years apart, and tries to pass it off as truth (and there's much more than that), then labels his film as a documentary, he has not only lost my respect, he has earned my hatred.

I watch the same news Americans do, hear the exact same stories, and am aware of even worse things than the general public (such as gamma ray bursts, which would kill us ALL, or the possibility that there could be an error in the quantum mechanics of the universe, transmuting my bedroom floor into lava) yet I'm perfectly fine. No psychotic need to kill, no lust for violence in the real world, no exorberant paranoid tendencies. Explain.

I think neither you or I were enough clear (Checking..., oh, Canada :) ).
I agree. It isn't just seeing violence how somebody turns violent or fears. That's something that's missing in BfC.
General public is too different to an individual. Many behaviors just can't be compared between these concepts. Anyway, how often do you hear that your community runs danger? that almost everybody hates you? that you must make the world a safer world? Most americans already have brainwashed their brains and think that their 'american lifestyle' (which few americans have) is a deserved gift which the rest of the world want to take it from them away.
