Recreation Braces!!!

yes I am what you would call a metal mouth

I have braces and they have helped me out a lot. I dont like to get them tighten b/c OW!! :dizzy2:

Does anyone else here have braces?? I am just curious

I will be getting mine some time this year....lets just say Im not afriad to get them... but Im not so thrilled with the pain of getting them tightened....so yah

I'm like Jaws from 007 combined with a barracuda ... metal on the teeth and a giant underbite.
I've had braces since about last year at this time ... still another year until they take them off. Then comes the breaking of the jaw and the realigning of the pieces and all that stuff. I had to have 8 teeth pulled before they could even begin the procedure. Apparently the oddity of my teeth is a result of a genetic condition that I'm only the second person in my family to ever get. Stupid genetics ...
Anyway, it's kind of funny when I flash someone a toothy grin and they get this odd expression on their face when they see me.

 

I had them i always broke brackets, and i broke over 40 of them seriously. Braces are the worse, id rather have gaps and sharp ends anyday. When they tighen them it hurts soo bad even drinking out of a straw is painfull. Couldnt even drink warm water and swallow. and if the wire pops out your s.o.l. b/c it will poke and jab you good in the mouth.
but its good youdont have to wear them for years, they still suck.

 

i've got braces and glasses to go with them so im full geek * pushes up glasses*

 

I have braces- I just got them at the end of the summer. I have black and orange elastics for hallowe'en. Before that I had teal elastics. I got wax to put on them if they scratch my mouth.

Also, as the teeth straighten, that wire gets longer. Owch!

 

I have had braces for about a year now.

Next visit to the Ortho and i get um off!

 

Fun With Braces

So - do you guys do anything special to your braces- like the Hallowe'en thing, or have you ever noticed that no matter what, whenever you open your mouth it looks like you're smiling?

my uniform is blue and i wear it everyday so they are navy blue!!!! Also I love blue!

I have braces, they're red for OU. (I think the Oklahomans would know this one.)

I agree they hurt when you get them changed...It's absolutely horrible, since I can barely chew anything after I get the wire changed...

I just can't wait to have them off and admire my straight teeth.

 

I'm going to need to get them pretty soon. I want to get them in green.

 

GREEN!?...... ......GREEN!!!!???? A bit of advise green on teeth dosent look all that great. I don't wanna sound mean, but....green!?:sweat2:.......Well, if you really like that colour maybe you should get light light light green!

Whatever you do don't get them in clear colour, b/c then you can see the colour of your teeth, which can be a problem at times :dizzy2: :sweat2:

 

I've had braces for about six months now and they suck. In fact one of the brackets came off today. I will have them for another six months and it is so annoying. I survive on soup when ever they get tightened and since I can't eat other foods I lose weight. I haven't had an apple for so long. I forgot what they taste like.

 

I had braces about four years ago, and had them for the two years prior. Words of advise: don't get glow-in-the-dark. It makes your teeth look incredibly dirty, even when they aren't. I learned the hard way!

Also, I had to wear headgear. Man, that stuff hurts! But at least my teeth are somewhat straight now.

I have many friends with braces...they say that it doesnt hurt when they get it tightened but from what ive heard i dont believe them.

Ok when someone takes your teeth and twists the root around moving it by tightening braces OF COURSE IT WILL HURT!! *ahem* sorry but it hurts I can feel the roots moving and OW!!:dizzy2:

 

I disagree. The first time mine were tightened, it might have hurt a bit, but by now I'm used to it and don't even feel anything.
It's kind of funny that I have to drive for over an hour to keep an ortho appointment that only takes about five minutes.
Oh, and I noticed I can hook the corners of my lips on the back brackets and use this to make a variety of odd expressions. I really am amused easily these days ...
