"Non-mainstream bands? What the **** do you mean, you stupid h-tai pervert?!"

What I mean is, bands that are ****ing brilliant, but people haven't heard of them :) Kinda like "indiebands", but in a special way. So share the love!

These are my doze of coffee:

Asobi Seksu, Mono, Firefox AK, Broken Social Scene, Laleh, The Departures, Sigur Rós, Anna Ternheim, Death in Vegas, PUSS, Caroline Lufkin.

I don't know many Indie bands, basically all I know are those "tribute to ---" bands. I kinda like "Durden". I know, I'm pathetic.

Hot hot heat is a Must.
The mars volta made me a happy little prog fan.
Coheed and Cambria are just amazing, and sound alot like Rush.
The arcade fire mixes french and english which works in their case.
Symbol...Oh they're awesome. Loved them in initial D.
    Dead poetic, I am impressed.

Yeah, many many more are on my list. Maybe another time. <3

I wonder if Sonic Youth would classify under this? So few people really seem to have heard of them. And Calamine is pretty groovy, too.

The only non-mainstream band I listen to is, The Mad Capsule Markets, other than that I am a masive Grunge fan and most of that is mainstream-ish

HHH rocks! There, i said it.

I've got a few offbeat and odd indie artists on my good list. At the moment I'll pick Deerhoof out of it for this show and tell. They're a very experimental sounding group from San Francisco. Nothing quite like hearing a grinding riff accompanied by the cuddly sounding vocals of Satomi Matsuzaki... :p

Bunnies and Pandas for the win!

I'm not sure what's mainstream and what isn't anymore, due to my lack of radio and TV exposure, and overdoses of my friends' music, which is pretty much emo/screamo of mainstream and not. I'll give it a go anyway.

Hot Hot Heat (because they were mentioned and I was close to choosing one of their songs for Music)
    Bleed the Dream
    Eisley
Indochine (unless you live in France. Even then, I don't know how mainstream they are)
    Zero 7
    uhh.. Something Corporate?

    I'm at a loss. I give up ;]

    E Nomine

Imagine Ramstein with an electronica/full orchestral/choir elements. Very dramatic, very solid. Lots of Latin prayers mixed into the vibe to add to the intensity of the music. My ears are very happy.

    Legion of Doom.

They're my new fix. They're kinda just experimental, seeing that all they do is take two songs and make a new hybrid. Coheed, senses fail, MCR, Incubus, etc. All bands that have had a song taken and spliced by LoD. ;3 Personally, I love it.
