Nah, don't do it. All you get with a GBA SP is backlighting and a flip-cover. Personally, I'd rather have the original GBA - they're a lot easier to hold because they're wider, so your hands won't cramp up if you play for a long time. You can get a case to keep the screen from getting scratched, so the SP's flip-cover's not that great. And normally, why would you need backlighting? I wouldn't bother trading. Don't be fooled by the fact that the GBA SP is newer and more expensive, it's not functionally better.

Yeah, and don't forget that the SP's backlighting sucks ... it's like going back in time to the Sega Game Gear ... and I would like to forget about that.
The SP is basically a cell-phone with gaming capabilities without the cell-phone. I guess what I'm trying to say is that its shape is better for calling someone than playing a game.

    ya, i guess your right

i have heard that your hands could cramp up from holding it too long. the light is used if you want to play in the dark or if you were to have a blackout. how do i know this, simple i have some family who own a GBA SP who use the light for those reasons. but at least with the SP you have a rechargeable battery. but your right, thanx :catgirl:

    thax alot!

ya, i guess your right. it's true taht the SP looks like a cellphone, but it is also has a rechargeable battery. that's really the reason why i want it. and also, when your playing your SP like at school and a teacher comes, all you have to do is just close it and put it in your pocket with out the need to turn it off. but thax for your advice! :catgirl:

You can just get a battery charger and some recharable AA batteries. That's what I did for my GBC, and it's saved me some decent amounts of coin. The whole unit cost about $30 (that's Canadian funds; I don't know what that means to you), including 4 batteries. It's probably saved me at least $50 on batteries, though, so it's definitely payed for itself.
