Debate Can there Be a Utopia Society..

After looking at a couple of the threads and talking to one of the other members I figured that this would be a great debate..

So Can We as humans Evolve into a Utopia society where everyone gets along.. Where there is no wars, the colour of your skin means didley Squat, Everyone is excepting of what religion you choose to practice, If you are a homosexual no one cares.. Do you think it can be done??

Of course not.

For centuries people have been trying to create a Utopian civilization. In the last 100 years alone we've had both the Nazi's and Lenin with his USSR give the idea a shot.

There's a simple reason why a Utopia is a pipedream:

Everyone is different.

What I like, you don't. What you love, I hate. What makes me happy offends you. In a Utopia everyone is happy and content. How can I be happy when society condones and supports something that I may believe against.

Let's say I was a sexist, religious fanatic, and this Utopia pressed the idea of "Equality for everyone." Well I would have a problem with that, women are below men, the bible says so, they have no right standing as an equal to me. This wouldn't be a Utopia, this place would be hell.

Which leads me to my next, breif point. All people are naturally inclined to be prejudiced against certain things. It doesn't matter if it's conciously or subconciously, we from the moment we are born we think of things in generalizations and are naturally more inclined to accept somethings and reject other things. Each person is different, thus thier prejudices would be different. This line of thought leads to conflict and is against the idea of a true Utopia.

Now if the debate were about if there could be a Dinotopia , well dammit, how could anyone resist? Who wouldn't want to chill with dinosaurs?!

haha yeah that will never happen! hmm now what can i say that wertitis didnt already say...eesh not much! there cant be a utopian society because utopia means harmony and harmony requires unison and we are individuals and unless that individuality is stripped away from us, there never will be!

every experience, from the moment we are born to the day we die, is unique and different from one another and adds to our individuality. every experience and environment we are in convinces us of what we do and do not believe and how we perceive what should and should not be. sure groups of people share some of the same ideals but not everything. there is always something to disagree with even if its as simple as what tastes good or bad and as long as there is disagreement, there cant be harmony hence no utopia.

i think if we as people want something that resembles a utopian society we should have started ooohhhh a couple million years ago when humans were starting to evolve and then all we have to do is not migrate to different continents!...no wait...that still wouldnt have worked

lets face it, people are devolving when it comes to society.

now theres an idea id go with!!

 

I would also have to say no. There is just no way everyone could get along especially with me there. If I wasn't there you may all have a chance.

I was thinking Dinotopia too. Strange.

 

I wish i could say yes to living in a Utopia, but War is natarul going back through time, any animal with some sort of society structure has war, they fight over territory and stuff, such as humans do, we'll take apes or gorrila's or w/e the hell they are for an example. They kill eachother for Territory or if a 'foreign' member appears.
Homosexual stuff and lesbian stuff, well, as I've said in another forum, this can only be accepted by peoples opinions of it, and seein as everyones entitled to some form of opinion they will never be TRULY accepted either, so living in a utopia is a dream, truly!
unless we were all brain dead, sort of like ants and funny enough, that's really the only way i could think of living in a utopia society.

 

It's ironic you say that. Ants are the only other animal in the world apart from us who wage war upon one another.

Utopia = impossible. We can get close, but not perfect.

No way in heck is that ever going to happen. Sad to say, but we humans just can't get along. We'll always have wars, because humanitie's always fighting over something. We'll always have hungry and poor and homeless people, because most people just don't care when they see them.

We'll always have polution, because I'm sure humanitie's done all it can to polute this earth. We'll always have death, STD's, rape, murder, sickness, suffering, becuase that's life. That stuff just happens and sometimes we can do something about it, someimes we can't.

Now, if the world suddenly just got along, put down their rifles and nukes, just smiled and gave someone a hug, then the utopia would come. Of course, so would the end of the world, so says the Bible.

 

Unless we all do star trek style lol, we'd all have to be communists, that'd be a utopia.
But communism is far to advanced of a lifestyle. It just can't work.

Funny you should mention nukes, they actually keep the piece because people fear them! It's because countries, regardless of whether they have nukes or not, know their opponent can send a few over.
