Oh come on, its from the 1960s, its got a lot of neat space age sound
effects and is facinating to hear Tomita's pre-synthesizer attempts at
electronic sound (there is a lot of acoustic orchestral instruments)- Its
like Ultraman or Dr. Who.

on the other hand there is no substitute for doing some research before you
buy expensive imports, or else you wind up with lots of very early works
and numerous "best ofs". Japan is well known for a best of collection for
every original album

its mostly orchestra and, it was his official and probably last release on
RCA/BMG, 1997. Its apparenltly a new film by Tezuka's studio, so it is the
original 1997 soundtrack. There is a CD-3 single of some song from the film. I
did not see Tomita's name on it so I didn't buy one (I think it is an outside
composer to do a pop song). The album proper has a little Tomita logo in the
famous font in the corner and his name in Kanji big and dead center.

there is a 4 CD boxed set + booklet for about US$100 in Japan of the original
'60s TV music just out. I didn't buy it though.

I do mention how much synth use appears on his various more obscure albums--
there are some soundtracks which are pretty much all synths.
