What do you think about "Adult Swim"? I personaly thinks its a-scuse me- peice of crap. I think its completely stupid! Why dont they just show the animes that they show there, on toonami! I personally thing "TO HECK WITH CARTOON NETWORK!" although, I DO like Ed, Edd, and Eddy......but thats not the point...

What are you thoughts on the subject?

well, I don't understand why they show EDITTED anime on adult swim. Isn't it called Adult and late at night for a reason? but still. something like Wolf's Rain, I wouldn't find a problem with having earlier in the evening. but Cartoon Network is supposed to be geared for younger audiences or something? but..Toonami shows DBZ and Batman right? but you know.. at least they show some anime.. unlike other stations.

I personally like Adult Swim. First you've got your non-anime comedy shows, such as Family Guy and Futurama, and I honestly think those shows are hilarious and not at all "a piece of crap" as you so lightly put it. Then you have the anime shows, which happens to be what brought me (and probably a considerable number of people) into anime in the first place. Sure the fact that they edit their anime is a disadvantage, but nobody says that you HAVE to watch adult swim. For many people it's just a stepping stone into the kind of anime you're probably familiar with.

Adult Swim, is, sadly, and more or less, probably the gateway to anime for about 30% of the normal American otaku. It is really funny how it does that, and it is also a double-edged sword in community as in how you may get so many idiots on those topics (in addition to 12-year old DBZ fanatics), though it can also add richness to the community.

The thing is, however, that Adult Swim's done its job, and it has done it admirably, in snaring people in to watch those things - it is a pretty good addition in the terms for success for Cartoon Network, though people may not think so.

I think I explained this to someone before... but this has been brought up multiple times, to CN and AS themselves, and the reason they still edit things is because it is still a public station that is most commonly viewed by younger audiences and such. Of course then there's also the fact that people seem to take the title "Adult Swim" MUCH too literally when I'm sure that the set of shows was not meant for adults but just a more mature audience than their day-time TV. But anyways... I only have to say one word that explains the behavior of the editing:

    Mothers

Hell hath no fury like a mother scorned about her child watching "demonic television shows with genitalia and mass amounts of gore"

Which is also why a lot of anime shows aren't caught by AS (that and licensing, of course, which is another thing people can't seem to grasp >: )
