I can start with my problem.

I play Inter in the Serie A league, and after an impressive start with 10-0 against Modena (Vieri scoring x5, Martins x2, Emre, Pedretti, Adriano all baging one) I need a backup DMC.

Been thinking of the likes of Djetou, Mendieta, and Simone, but I am open for suggestions. Youngsters are good, but I need someone with experience, just in case.

Currently have B.Pedretti and S.Lamouchi in that position. Would love to have another french DMC since they are so freaking good :D

I'm playing as Barcelona and have played them for 11 seasons... and counting. I've met rare opposition for the past 7 seasons... where I'e dominated at every front. Won the league 9 times (in a row), Champions league 8 times and Spanish Cup 9 times. I've been offered jobs from Brazil, England... and most other major clubs and though I have refused I once accidently accepted an offer but the board blocked my departure... which is a very rare scenario... Anyway, away from my success and about tactics:

I use 4-4-2 formation throughout the last 11 seasons with attacking play, mized passing, standing off to half way and normal tackling... and this option has been left this way for a long long time... the only changes I then make are my squad selection. Using wingers with 'single arrow' forwards into AM LR positions... and make sure they are quick and good at dribbling, and of course a good passer and crosser. I use Joe Cole, Vicente, Wang Yun on the left, and Scotty Parker, Joaquin, Xabi Alonso on the left. All very capable players and fit those roles well.

How, everyone has their own preferred players and pretty much anyone can be trained to a world class player. Wang Yun... bought for £450k... how worth £22.5 million. That's a rare case for a Chinese payer to go 'that' expensive.

One other thing I'd like to point out is substitution... now, I'm not what you'd call 'an active substitutor'. Unless someone is injured or low in condition rating... I rarely change. For me, (you might find this a weird reason) I don't like seeing that (?) next to their appearance, also, I like all my players to have high ratings. Substiting someone on for say 10 minutes is unlikely to get a '7' or above rating... my only accepted minimum rating (out of 10). Well, it's just me being critical... a number of times I end up not substituting at all! I make up for the injuries (if any) by accomedating my first squad with 28 players.

A football management game which uses an excel based system. There is NO GRAPHICS like those seen from Fifa or Pro Evolution. It has only numbers and words... quite lieterally (and some background pictures on everyday football). I'd say it is a pretty realistic management game which puts you in the seat of a club manager (manage absolutely any club in the world). All players in the football world are present in the game and can be bought if you have the funds avaliable.

The game is basically split into 2 sections, manangement screen and game screen. Management screen is where you train players, make bids for players, decide formation and tactics for proceeding games, make friendly matches in the coming weeks etc etc (this is only a few of the many things you can do). Matches are played in "highlight" fashion on the game screen... typically lasting between 2-5 minutes... but this depends on what speed you wish to set the match at. You basically have a clock which begins play and at certain minutes events happen (player getting carded, build up play to goals going to be scored/missed, etc) in the game and the screen changes to a bird's eye view of the pitch with the players displayed as circles whenever an 'event' is happening. The game is also enforced with highlight style commentary which are displayed in short sentances literally every second.

The game can theoretically go on forever but your players do age obviously... Me being in my 14th season with Barcelona and people like Adriano/Robben/Reyes are like 32 (but still very good), Nedved is made my assistant manager and people like Beckham are managing clubs like Cambridge :p. Anyway, some examples of the games management realism includes:

    - Bidding players can involve many forms and many payment methods such as 6/12 month installments, exchange with a player from your side. You can also choose when you want the player to join your club... usually allowed only during the 2 transfer windows.

    - Contract of players also take many forms including wage rise/drop if club is promoted/relegated, signing on fees, apps/goals bonuses etc. Each player also has their unique set of 'stats' for mental/physical/technical attributes. With the highest rating of 20 and the lowest 1. Over 25 attributes including heading, shooting, flair, accelaration, anticipation, handling, bravery, teamwork, influence, off the ball, tackling etc. Of course the 'better players' will have a nicer set of stats than those unknown players.

    - Training and scouting players involves not only yourself but your entire team of coaches/physios/scouts... you can assign each member of your team to specified jobs such as concentrating goalkeeping skills with your goalkeepers for coaches, ask for medical reports of your players who are prone to injuries, ask your scout(s) to search for players in your preferred field such as "search south America for youth players which has high shooting and pace stats.

    - During your matches you can alternate your tactics/formations/substitutions like mangers do in real life... think your team is too defensive? operate 4-3-3 with "gung ho" attacking options. Counter attack, passing to flanks, men behind ball are also other features from many avaliable...

    - Each individual players have their 'own personality' so to speak and they may not always be happy at your club... this is displayed with an "Unh" (unhappy) sign next to their names... you could remedy the problem by offering contracts, give them more active roles in games or... sell them" since other clubs may show interest in him. Though players leaving may have side effects such as other players unhappy with sale of influential player 'so and so'. You can also fine players if they are having a poor game or was sent off after a rash challenge... or simply because you don't like the bugger.

Well... that's just a brief taster. Like I said the game is entirely words and numbers. It may not seem appealing at first (like me) but once you play it for a while... this quickly becomes a game you just can't uninstall from your computer... even if you do it won't take long until you reinstall it again :) it is 'that' addictive. Sometimes I get bored stiff of the game... but as soon as I watch a match on TV, I'm revitalised! and off I go again. :)

Give it a try.. a must for any football fan.

So I have finally tried it out and might I add that it is a very hard but good game. I started off with Toluca (of course) and well changed my tactics a little bit. Instead of the 4-4-2 I went with the 4-1-2-1-2 (My fave formation...) As of now I havent started the season...just playing friendlies...and I tied my first game and won the second.

Im thinking that I need more offence on my side so im thinking about getting Bautista or Blanco on the team...but I think I might have to trade Israel Lopez for that....so who knows I might let go of some defence to get some offence.

Playing with F.C. Internazionale as usual. Third Season with them, and I might say I have done a good job with them.

First season: Lo Scudetto, Italian Cup, Italian Super Cup
Second season: Lo Scudetto, Italian Cup Runners up, Italian Super Cup, Champions League
Third Season: Currently 1st with 9 points advantage and winners of Inter-Continetial Cup (Won over Flamengo with 1-5)

I just sold one of my favorite and best wingers to Barcelona, Kily Gonzalez. Currently in a lack of good left winger. I am willing to pay £7-10 million for the "new" left winger. Currently thinking about Van Der Vaart, Montolivo or Joaquin.

Do give some other suggestioins :)

ML suggestions: Rothen, Hersi, Simao, Zenden, Steven Reid (good player)

Vicious, your defenders is just as important as your attackers. selling too many of any position is generally not the way to do it (and nor do they do it in real life). As for formation... a funny one really, some teams only seem to adapt to a formation and one formation alone, I'd advise that whilst you are playing friendlies/at the beginning of your season quickly sort out your formation which suits your team (i.e. when you get good results from the matches you'll know which one works) and stick with it. Get cover players for each position in your new position and readily rotate them so that your backup player get enough match practice to take on bigger roles if by chance your key player for any one position is injured.

I usually change on formation when it's the last resort... e.g. all my right midfielders are injured. Change from 4-4-2 to 4-1-3-2 etc.

Oh yeah, players with mad good stats does not necessarily mean they will flourish at your team... always scout that player first and listen to what they have to say before you decide... of course you can always buy a bad players and make him into a world stars. (Quite often the case when I manage clubs).

Or you could buy talents and make them into world stars. Or make your youth team players take the chance. Works really good for me :)

Oh and I was thinking of Rothen and Zenden. Both are in different teams though, but I am going for Montolivo of Atalanta.
