Manga Ring Project Character Sketches: Minato

well first of all an apology, im late X_X

i just went trough one of those crappy art blocks, plus ive been busy.

but anyways, first character i designed was Minato, the drawings are numbered in the order i drew it, so last number looks better than the other ones.
it would be helpful if someone could give me a list with a character and its characteristics.

to draw minato i took a few characteristics from BMS post like this:

Minato

male
not too shy, but shy
passive
daydreams

this helps me picture the character better, problem is there are to many posts and i dont have time to read it all!!!
if someone can give me short descriptions of the characters itll be a lot of help thanks^^

Please tell me what you think about Minato, and if im missing important things , like, if he has a tatoo somewhere, or wear glasses, anything let me know.
this is a design is a prototype and if you dont like it i can start from scratch no problem^^
just remember i want you guys to be happy with how the character looks, any suggestion is wellcome.

Wow, Chejo draws a male! Looks very much like your style still yet. Seems like a good design, and simple enough to redraw over and over.

 

Awwww!! Minato's so cute! ^^ I like it a lot.

 

I also like it. But here is a question what age are these people. I think high school but I'll need to check. To me the drawing of the Minato looks young. But I could be wrong about them being in high school.

For suggestion:
Maybe hes should have glasses or a head band(bandana).
Glasses might make him look passive.
Head band might look cool on him.

 

Yeah, they are in high school. His age-appearance is alright, especially since he's Asian. One of my college Japanese guy friends still looks like a middle-schooler, so imagine how young he looked when he was in high school!

I dunno about putting a headband on Minato... doesn't seem Minato-like to me, especially since hardly anyone uses headbands these days. A bandanna would be cool, but again, doesn't seem to fit Minato's personality. (If he was a gang-member or biker, then it would be great.) Glasses would match, since Asians are known for being nearsighted (like me, my brother, his friends, my friends...). But he doesn't have to wear them all the time, which means that his glasses-case could be an accessory as well.

 

I think that glasses is the biggest addition that you should add to your sketch, Chej. Otherwise, it looks fabulous. I like the shape of his head.

LOL, come to think of it some manga characters look young. Not all are leggy like the Sailor moon girls.

Well once again you did a great job. He's very cute Although he seems a bit young for me. Im only kidden, but good job I like it

 

Oh dear. He is lovely. I find these characters interesting.

 

it looks nice, but i have to say that #1 looks a little weird. it think it's his face. it looks so different from his body, and it looks like his neck's jutting forward, like a chicken... but .... NICE!

 

it's very cute. he looks to be 12 though. but nonetheless I still find him cute.
