Anime Characters you dont like to see bashed

I think we all have favorite characters that are bashed by other fans for some reason. What are yours?

ChiChi (DBZ): She is usually seen by a lot of DBZ fans as just Goku's screaming harpy wife.

Tomoe (Kenshin): If it wasn't for Tomoe, Kenshin would not have changed his ways. It's not like she's stopping Kenshin from loving Kaoru.

Kagome (Inuyasha): You always seem to hear Anti-Kagome fans say "Her voice is annoying," "She's too whiney," or "She loses her temper too easily," etc.

Yamcha (DBZ): A lot of V/B fans seem to have it in for this poor guy.

 

Dilandau Albatou (Escaflowne): A lot of people dismiss him as shallow, without bothering to pay attention to the canon evidence that he's NOT shallow, just very screwed-up.

Merle (Escaflowne): Frequently gets accused of being 2-dimensional comic relief, or of being too clingy. Partly true, but she grows as a character throughout the series, and is surprisingly insightful at times.

Allen Schezar (Escaflowne): He's NOT a playboy, dammit. People accuse him of being too perfect (he isn't, but he's meant to appear that way early in the series), or hate him for the very flaws that make him interesting.

Yugi Mutou (Yu-Gi-Oh): Aside from the general tendency of some people to bash the series in general, there are a lot of people who dislike Yugi because he's sentimental, weird-looking, and not some macho musclebound shounen hero.

I'm sure I'll think of other examples later...

 

Naruto Uzumaki(Naruto) Ive seen some people just diss this guy because he isnt as expierence in NinJutSu as Sasuke Uchiha. I think opposite.
Aburame Shino(Naruto) There are also quite a few Shino haters. I hav heard people rant about **Spoilers for people not at Chunin Exams** how he uses bugs as ninjutsu,whining about how that isnt enough to kill someone or blah blah blah.

 

Kikyo (Inuyasha): While most characters have their own personal fanclubs, I've actually seen Anti-Kikyo shrines on the web, not to mention Anti-Kikyo blogrings, Anti-Kikyo fanlistings, and I'm surprised they haven't begun selling Anti-Kikyo pins on E-bay. I honestly don't see what so many people have against her, she's one of the most complex characters in the show, not to mention the one who's faced the most hardships, and yet everyone still despises her, most for the sole reason of "OmG She SteaLiN InU From KagOme" Newsflash: Kagome doesn't own Inuyasha, and neither does Kikyo. He's a free man with the ability to make his own decisions, and if he ends up with Kikyo (I'd hate to see that happen, but if worst comes to worst..), blame him for it, it was his decision to begin with.

Kagome (Inuyasha): While the ammount of bashers Kagome has is far fewer then Kikyo, I've come upon numerous people who despise her with a passion, simply because her voice irritates them or her lack of proper battle training. Of course she hasn't been trained in combat, she's a 15 year old schoolgirl for crying out loud! And if you hate her voice so much, take it up with her voice actor or switch to the sub, she sounds much less like a mall rat though a bit mature for a fifteen year old IMHO.

Not too surprisingly, most Kagome-haters are Kikyo lovers and vice versa. I expect the main reasons for hating their "counterpart" is the fact that the two of them are both involved in a heated love triangle, so there's a rather competitive vibe between the two. I speculate that if Inuyasha weren't there at all, both sides would probably neutralize their hatred on the other, and all would be well, except for the fact that we no longer have the Inuyasha anime.

Right, I'll move on now.

Tomoe (Kenshin): I haven't seen a wide variety of the Kenshin episodes, but I've seen a few and have a general idea of the basic storyline, and I still don't understand why so many bash Tomoe. She's dead, give her a break. I realize that it's mostly jealousy from the Kaoru fans, but as ChiChi stated earlier, she's the one who changed Kenshin in the first place.

Subaru (.hack//sign): I'm not too sure if the online community despises her, but I personally know many a .hack fan who find her tedious and wish she'd just quit the game and continue her life before The World. Subaru nearly put me to sleep initially, but as the series continued I grew more attracted to her character and felt rather sorry for her.

 

Kikyo (InuYasha): She spent her whole life to purify the Shikon Jewl and to do other things that other women in the village wouldn't have to worry over. She fell in love with InuYasha first, made InuYasha a lot tamer, and gave up her life for him. even though she died thinking that Inuyasha completely betrayed her, she still kept him alive by arrowing him to the one Goshin-whatever tree. and yet, still so many people dedicate themselves to bashing her. No, she's not one for jokes, and you can't blame her at first for trying to get back at IY because she thought he was the reason for her death, and it's more like Kagome's trying to steal IY from her! Although i do think IY should forget about Kikyou, since she's dead and all.

Allen (Escaflowne): I'd have to agree with Dilandau *the member* that Allen is no playboy. Yes, he's had a couple of women in the past, but that shows a whole new side to him and makes him more interesting. He's not completely perfect as to what people might think, and he doesn't look like a woman! :anger2:

Merle (Escaflowne): yes, Merle was annoying for the first couple of episodes when all she could say was, "oh, Lord Van, i was so worried," and so on. Van is who she grew up with and she's still young so of course she would be worried of losing him, even if it's to Hitomi. Give the cat a break near the end of the series, you see how mature she really is when she has a talk with Van about Hitomi, and how she accepted that he was in love with her.

Kikyo (Inu-Yasha): Everybody always whines about how evil she is, how selfish she is, and how she wants to kill their precious Inu-Yasha and Kagome (no offense to the fans).

Ayeka (Tenchi Muyo): They always whine about how she's a selfish, spoiled brat. Not realizing that Ryoko acts that way too, but just in a different way.

Sailor Mercury (Sailor Moon): People always accuse Ami of being boring, useless, weak, nerdy, and so on. I think Ami bashers are mean.

Sailor Saturn: I've heard one person claim that she's pointless. Pay attention to the Sailor Saturn episode in Sailor Moon S, Saturn hater. :anger2:

Sailor Chibimoon: These bashers make my blood boil. I admit that I don't think too kindly of anybody who's anti-so-and-so. People constantly whine about her brattiness (which I don't find such a big deal), her so-called incestos behavior (oh please), and most of all, SHE SO MEAN TO USAGI-CHAN. You know what? SO WHAT?

 

Kikyo(inuyasha)a whole lot of people twist kikyo around to apear as if shes a selfish inconsiderate biatch.

Jakotsu(inuyasha)ive seen a lot of people say they dont like jakotsu because they think hes freaky looking or hes gay. one time i think i even came across an anti jakotsu fancub in another thread someone said looking at jakotsu made them want to vomit

 

Sesshoumaru (Inuyasha)- Okay, yes I am aware that he has a ridiculously huge fan base. But most of the people in that fan base are uninformed ninys. They completely ignore his actual character, give him attributes he DOSEN"T HAVE and *shudder* insist on calling him that horrid Fluffy-chan nonsense. Maybe "Characters I don't like to see mangled" would better explain this, but hey. What I find most irritating, though, is that Rumiko Takashi developes his character immensely in very subtle ways, and this fails to penetrate the skulls of rabid fangirls. :anger2:

Millie/Merel (Trigun)- Yes, their annoying sometimes, but look at the main character. They play an integral part of the plot, and develope interesting skills throughout the series. They also provide a constant in Vash's life, which I think he grows to depend on. When he has to leave to go fight Knives and his minions, he is way depressed.

Jaken (Inuyasha)- He's Sesshoumaru's sidekick, needed for dealing with the vermin beneath the great lord's notice. To put it bluntly, he burns the ants. While I don't find him, in and of himself, interesting, his relationship with the other characters is. His loyalty is absolute, even if he is a bumbling idiot sometimes. And he is Rin's surrogate brother, right down to being jealous when "father" Sesshoumaru's attention doesn't lie solely on him anymore.

 

Well I can finally express myself! The character on the top of my list that I dont' want bashed is....

Anzu Masaki(Tea Gardener) I don't see why so many people hate her! She is nice and caring! Is there a crime with being nimce?! Sure I know that her friendship speeches CAN be annoying but like all the other characters don't?! Almost every character on Yugioh have speech problems. Yami talks about the heart of the cards, Marik talks about taking over the word, Kaiba talks about how he'll beat Yugi and reclaim his title as number one duelist! I can go on but I don't see the point. IF everyone thought that a Yugioh character was annoying because of the speeches, then all the characters would be hated! Only Ryou, Mr.Motou, and Mai would be the unannoying one!

Well now I'm off to check out the other anime series and see if they hate another girl

Sasami (Tenchi Muyo): Some have whined about her being a goody-goody. I don't see why. She doesn't seem like a goody-goody to me.

Tuxedo Kamen (Sailor Moon): Sure, he's got weak powers, and was rude to Usagi in the beginning, I still think he's the best match for her. People always complain how much of a jerk he is. Especially with the big, temporary break-up in SM R. He did it to keep Usagi from being killed, and he knew no other way. Yet people still despise him. They also whine about how much of a bully he is to Usagi; not realizing that Usagi can be an butt-hole to him at times.

Sailor Mars: Like with Chibi-Usa and Mamoru, people always complain about how mean Rei is to Usagi, and how much Rei hates her. Newflash: she doesn't hate Usagi, and she doesn't try to be mean. She just wants what's best for her friend. It's called tough love, and sometimes she needs to chide Usagi for her bratiness. It's annoying that these Usagi fanatics can't tolerate the slightest negative thing said about their poor little baby (don't get me wrong, I do like Usagi, honest, but the hard-core Usagi fanatics just get to me).

 

Mwu La Flaga, Gundam Seed , He's the living example of making the impossible, possible. Besides, Maryu Ramius wouldn't have a shoulder to cry on.

 

Sakura (Naruto): For more or less the same reasons as above. I feel bad for her. I mean, at one point she feels inferior and all. She knows where she's standing and she realizes that she can't expect to become a good ninja if all she focuses on is Sasuke.

Yuuki Miaka (Fushigi Yuugi): Now, I'll admit I'm not exactly Miaka's biggest fan, but you have to cut the girl some slack. The anime didn't do her as much justice as it should've in the area of character portrayal. If you're going to hate her, at least put some beef (or tofu, your pick ^_~) into your arguments. "shez stealin TAma frmo ME" isn't good enough. In the manga, Yui's kind of vitchy (yes. vitchy. XD) to her, and, dude, Tamahome rescues her and makes her blush when she feels LOST. I'd be worried if she DIDN'T start to like him (even if it was just a passing thing). I'm not saying you shouldn't hate Miaka -- just... make sense if you're going to. ^^;.

Hongou Yui (Fushigi Yuugi): In the manga she's vitchier, but you still have to see where she's coming from. I mean, dude. I think I'd start to doubt my friendship with someone if all that stuff happened -- ESPECIALLY with someone creepy like Nakago doing... creepy things. ^^;; You can't hate her just because she, like, likes Tamahome (or whoever you pair her up with) -- and this is the kind of hatred I see the most.

The funny thing about this is that I'm a Yui fan and a friend of mine is a Miaka fan, and these are the arguments we use to defend ourselves. XD And, like, we're like THIS. *crosses fingers* ^_~

darkside(from darkside blues)- you never really know who he is and what you are dealing with in his case, yet he's the main character. go figure.....
shimbo(from chobits)- i think his character is underestimated by the other characters, and his role in the story is a little under told.~

Well, I haven't yet seen any bashing of her, but know that if I do, the author will find themselves without a head, or limbs, or vital organs. Of course, knowing all of you, SOMEONE is going to take this moment to bash her (likely, best, in jest) Am I wrong?

 

As you all know I'm an FY Freak so as soon I saw this thread this is what I have to say:

1. Miaka Yuki (Fushigi Yugi)I really like Miaka and people always say bad things about which I don't like. As I said in one thread, yes I think she can get a little annoying sometimes but she has a really great personality and is very kind. Plus, who wouldn't want to be her? Eating all that food and not gaining one single pound and have practically all the characters in FY fall in love with you? I don't know about you but I would love to be Miaka.
Instead of looking at the negaties look at the positives of Miaka and you'll see what a great person she is(sorry I kind of rambled).

 

Well its not that hard to figure what I'm going to say XP . . .

Jaken (Inuyasha) People bash him for being annoying and green. Even Sesshoumaru bashes him. But I don’t think Jaken gets enough credit. He is pretty much always there for Sesshoumaru, even when he is antagonized, tormented, sliced in half, and beaten up. He helped Sesshoumaru trace Sesshoumaru's father's tomb. Plus he has a sweet staff that blows fire. He even puts up with Rin.
