Anime goes back way far, there are some really old but good anime that does not get meantioned anymore.

    i would recommand watching:
Nozomi Witches(bewitching nozomi) by toshio nobe (1986 young jump)
    romance story
a boy that is not good at anything suddently moves to a new area, here he meets a girl that just moved back from new zealand that is perfect, good at sport, boxing, fighting, it good at dances and singing, she is sweet and kind, she's the girl next door.

if anyone can acturally find this anime... pm me.

    the second anime is:
Yawara by naoki urasawa (1989 shonen sunday)
it's about a girl who been trained by her grandfather who use to be a pro judo fighter... she is really good at judo, but she wants a normal life and is trying to fit in very hard, so she tries her best not to use judo. one day while trying to help another person she shows her judo skills and was caught on camera and published in the newpaper, now everyone is trying to get a piece of her.
    can be cound at animesuki

    two dective onces

    detective conan (1994 - now)
about a famous teen dectective being druged and turned into a kid.
i think it's still being published

    金田一少年の事件簿 (kindaichi case file)
in my opion it's bit better than detective conan.
about a grade 11 kid who's the grandson of a great detective, he has the iq of 180 and is very good at details. the plot line involves more action, brain work etc

the other one i want to recommand is
    doraemon
this is my child hood fav and i still love it, the story line is very funny and is very good.

if u guys have anymore to add feel free

Battle of the planets, or more known as G-force, is one of the first "mecha" animes that I've ever seen.

Blackjack is probably best known by it's creator, the man behind Astro Boy, but I think it's one of the most classical animes out there.

    hey there :)

I totally agree with Battle of the Planets. I have all the incarnations. or at least, all of GATCHAMAN 1 and 2. I have a few G-Force, Eagle Riders and BOTP eps as well. another one is Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato. That is CLASSIC! I have all the episodes and the movies. I was also wondering if anyone has any Samuari Pizza Cats eps. if so, e-mail or PM me. much appreciated. ;) :D

Heh, I often tell UrashimaKeitaro "I need something new, that is, something old" - classic anime can provide a nice break from all the 'new' stuff when it starts feeling samey.

I've heard a lot about Ace o Nerae! and Slam Dunk. Can anybody tell me a little more about these?

If we're getting into pre-90's anime here, I'd suggest Galaxy Express 999. Though I'm sure a lot of you have heard of it, it's a very well done story, with art by Reiji Matsumoto.

At least, that's how I remember it. Anyone care to explain the story for me? I can't remember it.

All I know of GE 999 is from an installment of the manga I once read in Animerica magazine once. All I can really tell is that there's this lady and her short companion who ride on a train that runs through space. They meet Captain Herlock, have adventures, stuff like that I guess.

Slam Dunk..... that show is pretty good ... still can be found to download or the be purchased... it about a boy Sakuragi Hanamichi, Who knows nothing about basketball... in order to chase his dream girl, who's loves basketball since her youth. Sakuragi Hanamichi decided to join the basketball team... And there is a love rival that joins the team also Rukawa Kaede, the boy that sakuragi's dream girl is in love with, u often see flame spark between these two. anyways Sakuragi is known for his red hair and his short temper... the shows runs with a special basketball teaching mixed in.. and is full of funny moments.

G-Force (aka Battle of the Planets) and Detective Conan are two great classics for me. Can never get tired of watching them.
