I've been wondering what kind of colleges and major/minor we people of the forum intend to get into. I'm curious...

I'm only 15, soon to be 16 :) , but I know that your highschool years are crucial in determining what college you'll be attending for the next couple years... I want to get into Cornell or Princeton, some Ivy league school with hope.... OUT OF STATE, FAR FAR AWAY FROM FAMILY!!! Major Physics, minor music or art....

At the moment i'm doing a diploma course in Architectural Technology at Carlow Institute of Technology. I've finshed my first year but at the moment i have 3 repeats (well, 2 now) to go through cause i failed 3 tests  . Still i'm looking forward to getting back to college cause i'm bored out of my mind at home, although it doesn't start for another 2-3 weeks :anger2: .

Whaddaya know, that was one of the things I considered when looking for a good college! :p

I currently am an astrophysics major at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, or New Mexico Tech for short. We do offer a rather good physics program, but you'd have to look elsewhere for the art degree.

Oddly enough, it was the opposite for me. In my final high school year I applied to several universities, and since my average was 79.4(it didn't get rounded up..grrr) I got into University of Windsor(in Canada) for a Bachelors of Social Work. I'm rather glad too that I ended up there because it is a great school. I just have 3 more years to go, and whether or not I can handle social work, we'll see.

Well I've got a good few years left before I even need to start considering college, but I'm definitely going out-of-state (I'm with the majority in regards to wanting to distance from family...), possibly N.Y.U or Washington University. If I really cracked down and challenged myself for the next four years I *might* be capable of gaining acceptance to an ivy league school, but all the pressure and diligence it would require just doesn't seem worth my while (since I'm far from being a perfectionist as it is....).

As for possible majors, I haven't really put much thought into it. Possibly something in literature, since while I don't truly excel in any particular subject, literature is by far my best (and that isn't saying much, my math skills are on par with my sewing skills which only moments ago supplied me with yet another bleeding cut).

I'll probably go for a Masters in Museum Studies or Art History at the U of Toronto. I may need to take a few extra courses though.

Hopefully I'll get into one of them though

I didn't know what to study at college as long as it is a computer related. There was 'Information Technology' college at the university, which had 3 majors, computer science, computer engneering & business information system.

I liked how the BIS sounded like (and in addition the other two were really hard and I am too lazy to face something hard :p), so I decided to take it and see how it goes.

I am going to my 3rd year at college (not sure about the major since my average wasn't that good and wasn't able to take more than 4 subjects) and I am finding out that my major needs mostly people who can learn by heart rather more than understanding. I am the 2nd type of person, I can't memorise very well, but yet, I don't regret studying in this major and I will put to it untill I graduate and find a good job; since my major is wanted in banks mostly :)

I'm not 100% sure just yet but I plan on going to Valporaso University. Any of you ever heard of it?
It's pretty hard to get into, and one of the top schools in the counrty, by what I've heard.
*If* I really get down to doing my work, I'll be able to do it.*sighs*
Even if I did forget my bio homeowrk today....
My majors will be in one of the three.
    Acting
    Song
    Fasion designing

And my minor will have something to do with computers. Most likely vidoe games. I'm pretty creative with that.

If I decide on studying archaeology, I'd like to got to the University Of Chicago, since they have one of the best departments in that area. But there are others that I would like too; Stanford(to bug my cousin), Washington, and maybe the University of Paris or University of Montreal.

    College?

What is this college you speak of?

Anyways... I probably have, really, no hope of getting into a college. I my grades were all, pretty much, Ds and Fs. I didn't even get my diploma. Will probably end up with my GED. And considering what I was interested in, I'm pretty much ****ed and will probably pump gas the rest of my life. 'cause, really, there isn't much you can do with a degree in writing.. and so I figured I'd take a note from half my English teachers in High School, and Stephen King, and maybe teach (namely English), and write on the side and, Hell, maybe I'd get lucky.

Yeah, but the whole not-graduating thing sort of kicked that out the window. :p Oh well.

I'll probably end up going to Champlain College, just as my brother and sister have.

In Quebec, the province where I live, there's no Grade 12; you have two years of something called 'CEGEP' and afterwards you have to go to University for however long the program you want to go into is.

Champlain College is a CEGEP with the IB program instated. IB stands for International Baccalaureate, and the school that I attend currently also has this program. (Oh, and it has a -great- anime club.)

lol. The University of Western Ontario has/had a good anime club as well. I guess for some of us, it's important to find out what clubs are available. I chose a University that was fairly close to home, since I had never been gone from home for very long and didn't have much cash. But being a bit away, I was able to find some independence and learn the ways of the world. lol.. anyways Western has a great Art program and the Main campus and the affiliated colleges, Brescia, Huron and King's have excellent language programs.

I have heard very little of the anime club here (SUNY at Albany). They FINALLY put up a flier about a meeting this Wednesday. I'm going. XD

    I'm an intended theatre major (can't declare a major as a freshman), Japanese minor. And if I decide I'm absolutely insane, I'll make it a double major -- theatre and creative writing. ^_^;;

I'm at Sheridan College, studying advertising (or rather finishing that program up). I'm looking to get into some sort of New Media style program afterwards, preferably at Sheridan (though I won't be surprised if I end up at Fanshawe).

I am at Case Western Reserve University. I have not really decided in what I am majoring in, but I think it might be in biomedical engenieering, or dealing with advertising... thats a bit on the different sides eh?

Finally got back to college at last... the only problem is that i failed 2 of my subjects, so i have to repeat first year, cause they won't let me have the tests again till next year. It was a massive shock when i was finally told the news (they day i got back, stupit slow as* college), but this might be turning out to be not so bad, one of me teachers said that she might be able to get me a job in a drawing office, so that would be seriously handy and it might even prepaer me for the rest of the course.

    Full Sail

I'm just a junior, but I already have my eyes on Full Sail in Winter Parks, FL.
I plan to major in Video Game Design and Development with a bachlors in Science.
Don't think it will be that hard, I have a weighted GPA of 4.2 (Unweighted 3.8)
    That's the plan at least.
