    Hi all,
I'm new here and wanted to show you some of my artwork. My stuff is heavily influenced by Manga...but not quite Manga. I posted some of my artwork on a site called Digitalwebbing, which is more focused on American comics. I didn't get many responses at all about my work...which is just not helpful. The responses I did get were more in the line of "wierd" or "what am I looking at." So I got to thinking maybe I am showing my stuff to the wrong audience...so here I am. This is a page excerpt from a 5-issue comic book series I am creating entitled "Godlings". I have the first three issues done and am pretty close to finishing up issue 4. You can see more of my work at http://home.attbi.com/~ahumphres. Any comments are critiques are welcome. Take care all

Hmm, my little computer couldn't find your page, how unfortunate because I really like your work!! I personally think its hard to create a picture with only black and white inking, but you did a marvelous job!! I love the textures. I know how you feel about not really fitting in to either the 'anime' style or the 'western' style of comics. I'm from the US so I'm heavily influenced by the native art here too, so my own work is a little too anime for the americans and a little too american for the anime artists. lol Maybe we should make up a word for that something in between for the rest of us "art mutts" huh? :) Don't stop drawing! You work is great!

    thanks guys and gals

Thanks for the kind words guys. Did you guys know that the grandfather of modern anime...the artist responsible for Astroboy and Metropolis based his style off of Walt Disney's cartoon style. THis is why you have big eye's in anime. So it seems kind of ironic when people say its not quite anime enough...(more westernized in style)...when anime style was based off of western cartoon styles from Disney. Ironic, huh. Just thought I would throw that out there. :D

    Re: thanks guys and gals

okay sorry... i know that the first anime "astroboy" was based onto the disney cartoon style.. but i still say that astro boy has his own style that brought it up to anime.. soo.. but oh well.. yeah.. your pics are still good for me.. i didn't say i didn't like it... i just said that it wasn't just like the anime's we see these days.... your picture still does have the americanish style and i do not complain about it.. i just say that... u_u.... if u find me annoying.. that's okay... but yeah... i still like your pics... ironic.. okay whatever... u won.. i lose.. and that's it... but everyone has diferent opinions in how anime is right now.. and the style is very diferent from back then.... gomen nasai if i bothered u...

    I apologize Misao...

No Misao...I didn't write that as a way to prove you wrong or anything. I apologize if it sounded like that at all. You comments did not insult me in the least. I just said it because I find it interesting where certian people get their influences from...that was all. I just thought it was interesting when I heard this story of where he derived his influence and just wanted to see if anyone else knew this fact. I pointed out the irony part because I thought it was interesting how anime and manga is becoming popular over here in the states now and people don't realize some of the influence was from an American cartoonist...Walt Disney. Just the strange way things cycle back and forth in the art world with people not knowing where they come from sometimes. So please don't be angry or anything. You are a very good artist...looked at some of your posted work and was very impressed. :D
