Not sure if its just me since I just started watching this but isnt it a bit strange that people within the same family seem to be in a relationship which reminds the viewer of like a bf/gf relationship ? Im mainly refering to Hiro and Kisa, and then again with Kyo and Kagura. Any ideas ?

The word family can be a bit deceiving in this case. It's more of a clan, really. True, all the people are blood-related and have the same last name, but they're also more likely to be distant cousins than closer relations.

Besides, it is perfectly legal to marry your second cousin....it's just that most people don't want to.

In a good few countries(ireland included, I believe) it is legal to marry your first cousin. The Souma "family" really is more of a clan, like shadowbard said. Just because they have the same last name doesn't mean they're closely related. From their estate, I would guess they're a very old family, so there's probably plenty of genetic diversity in it.

Hehe, well, a person's first cousin only shares about 12% of the same genes so by the time you get to your 3rd cousin, any genetic relations are quite nonexistent. o___o But just the attachment of the title "so and so cousin" makes it seem undesirable.
