Starting Thursday, I am officially writing exams. I finish on the 24th. The result of this time: I will either succeed to next year as an Honours Economics and Administration student, will drop down to the dreaded General Economics (only to reapply to honours in year #3), or will fall from grace altogether and flunk out.
Anyway, there's likely to be a few periods in between exam dates that I am away from the computer, and will not be around (like this weekend, for example), so if I melt or something, you know why.
During the summer I'll be working a full-time job back in Strathroy, and, aside from that, I'll have less time to make use of the Internet on account of sharing a computer with four other people instead of just having my own access. So my presence around here may seem diminished.
I'll still be around in the meantime, doing what I'm doing now (taking a study break and just killing time), so I'll be in touch.
To anyone else in the post-secondary system, good luck with your exams.

Okay, it's pretty scary to say this, but the next several hours determine my entire future. That sounds melodramatic, but it's pretty true.
Today at 2:00pm I write my macroeconomics exam. If I get 67% or better, I'm set. If I do any worse, however, I'm bumped down into the general economics program. If this happens, well, I'm pretty much ****ed because there's not a whole lot one can do with a general economics degree (except maybe teach economics in high school ...).
Anyway, wish me luck ... I'll need it.

    Happy!

"There comes a time in every man's life where decisions have to be made. Whether to toil, to labour, or just plain piss your days away, away, away ..."
-Dropkick Murphys, Caught In A Jar-

I chose toil and labour, and it paid off. So, when it came to do or die, did. I I'm pretty sure I landed something between 70 and 80% on that exam. We'll see in May when my marks get released.
Anyway, I'm confident in the results, and can finally go back to just being good ol' Novus instead of thinking only about economics.

One more exam. I'm just about to leave for it. History, Medieval, Western European, High and Later Middle Ages. Three hours, I believe. Three short answers, three essays. Sounds like fun, no? Okay, it really just sounds like PAIN!!!!!!
I'll let y'all know hows I did when I get back.

    Good luck on your last exam! I'm done all mine.. right now I'm just getting over the stress. I can't believe we're done first year already! They were all pretty easy I guess, except for reasoning. I had to go through Bertrand Russell's The Value of Philosophy and put it all in standard argument form and I had no idea what he was saying.. so I bsed that one ^^;

That's the best part of an essay question, my friend.
So, it turned out there were only two essays, and not three. So it only took me two hours. I swear, on that exam I used more economic theory than history. I guess that makes sense when I was explaining the impact of the agricultural and commercial revolutions, but phrases like "increasing the productivity of one unit of labour" were never meant to be used on an exam for an arts class.
Still, the exam was not that bad, and now I'm done done done done done done done!!!!

So you know that exam I thought I did so well on? Turns out I failed.
Now I just have to find the cash and time to get down to Waterloo to sign up for the distance ed summer course ...

That sucks.. I've been told that it's expected for students to not do so well first year since it's hard to adapt to the system. I have to work hard also to pull up my gpa after this year >_<

Honestly, I wanted to just let this thread rot. But, I have another announcement to make, and I know we all hate clutter so I'm reusing this thread.

You may or may not have noticed that I have been absent for a while. I've been busy with work is all, and I don't have Internet access here (I'm back in the 'Roy, for those of you who didn't know), at least not in my room. So, this means that I have to share access with my mother, father and younger sister. My sister's a total loser who almost never leaves the house unless she has to, so even getting online now was a trick.
Anyway, posting on my end is going to be quite a bit slower than it was in the past (and I heard that relieved sigh you just gave). I'm going to do my darndest to make my contribution to the RPG forum as good as it deserves to be after so long waiting, so if you have been looking forward to that, well, there you go.
I wanted to post this announcement before the weekend, but then I ended up going to Toronto with my dad. It was worth it. I saw The Producers and a baseball game, and managed to get my dad to take a couple days off work. That doesn't sound like much, but he works so much these days he's going to have a heart attack or something, so it was kind of important.
Anyhwa, I have returned once again.

Seriously, I didn't want to have to say this, but given my absenses of late, I feel you are all deserving of an explanation of my activities of late, or the lack thereof. So here it goes ... and it won't be pretty.
Okay, to begin with, my job. I am staring at a computer screen all day. This isn't really a change from my university life, perhaps, except that now I am sitting there for eight to nine hours straight. This probably isn't too bad, you're saying. Hells, some of you probably have similar jobs. Here's the other bit: I'm doing math. Math, balance sheets, economics stuff ... all kinds of very bad things. All the while, I am forced to endure a steady stream of country music, Phil Collins and Elton John. Ah, the joys of sharing an office. I guess no temp gets their own office, so no real complaints about that. Anyhwa, by the time I get home, I just want to kind of sit there, not really moving, and ESPECIALLY not typing on a keyboard. It's psychological exhaustion, I guess.
Also, I have been conscripted to DM two separate D&D games on weekends, and for one of those I am also solely responsible for teaching all the players but one how to play the game. So, my weekends are pretty much eaten up.
I also seem to be the designated chauffeur, delivery boy and getaway driver for my family. I'm not the only one in the house with a driver's license (but I am the only licensed driver without a car), but I am the one who does all the driving for everyone. And then when I'm not driving for family, I'm driving for friends, as trips into town are pretty much essential when you live in a small redneck town like this.
Politics is taking up ridiculous amounts of my time. I didn't know I cared about voting quite this much, but ensuring that I am an informed voter has consumed me for the last couple of weeks. Of course, that will end June 28.
And, of course, since a lack of time is a really shitty excuse for my absence, especially in light of my old "I will make time" logic, let me mention something more significant.
When I went into town last weekend, I was at a certain shop downtown at which I saw something extremely important: something like 30 volumes of Lone Wolf And Cub, the manga. This may not seem important to most of you, but I have spent nearly a decade looking for this.
Anyway, now that I have found it, I have little use for manga, anime, and all that stuff. As such, I have no real place in a site full of otaku and otaku-in-denial. And I'm sure you have little use for me.
Nearly a year ago, I introduced the Novus persona with the help of the music of the Black Crows. Today, I eclipse this role with the Guess Who ...

    Adios.
