I understand FF8's card game pretty good except one or two things

FF9's card game is totally ****ed in my opinion cause it doesn't make sense, I had a card with 128 (whatever that symbolizes) and it lost to a card with 5 (!!!) and the arrows pointed at eachother as it would be a duel and the countdown starts

whatever I liek the cardgame in FF8 MUCH MUCH better

The arrows are to capture another card. If an arrow points a way another card does not have an arrow at, you capture that card and can get it at the end of the card game. The numbers are health I beleive.

I know atleast about the arrows (duh!) but it's that number thing that's ****ed up cause it doesn't make sense how a card with 5 can win over a card with 128

I'd go with FF8 card game since it's easy to understand the rules. To understand how to play FF9 card game I had to look around a town, which I forgot it's name. @_@

Eight's was far better. It was way easyier to understand(even with all the plus, same, same wall...)and it was a better and more enjoyable game.FF9 was just plain screwed up and the cards sucked too.
I much prefered the trading rules and style of 8's.I still think FF8 is the worst game of the lot,but it beats the living crap out of FF9's card game.

Maybe those complaining about the FF9 card game should learn the rules. ;)

There are hints about what the 4 stats on each card means - it's not a simple matter of power numbers like FF8's was.

The first, third and last are in Hexadecimal. Bigger number wins, with E being the highest possible.

The first is a number representing attack power (ranging from 0-E).
    The second is a letter defining attack type (P, M, X, A):
P - Physical - When attacking, this goes against the target's 3rd stat.
M - Magical - When attacking, this goes against the target's 4th stat.
X - When attacking, this goes against the target's 3rd or 4th stat, whichever is lower.
A - When attacking, this goes against the target's 1st, 3rd or 4th stat, whichever is lowest.

    example:
    3P12
creature with physical attack of 3, physical defense of 1, and magical defense of 2.

Keep in mind that the numbers only come into play when a card is played so that it's arrow(s) oppose another card(or cards)'s arrow. If you lay a card's arrow against an undefended side, you flip that card, no matter how strong or weak your card is.

FF8's card game was too simple, I liked the complexity of 9's more. And the fact that over time your cards got better through use (like leveling them up, tee-hee).
