Do it all the time. I will note, however, that the majority of my mp3s are ones I cant buy to begin with.

    How so?

J-pop and such is hard to find, and I don't have a credit card to order online with.

Live sets wouldnt fit on one cd anyway. (Live sets are extremely long, continuous, techno concerts, essentially. The shortest I've had is a half hour, second shortest is about 70 minutes, longest is around 2 and a half hours).

But anyway, yes. I do download a fair chunk of mp3s, but nowhere near as much as some people.

when you download with Mp3s it's illegal to. If you obtain it from a site that is not legitimate they are stolen Mp3s.

I do it all the time to, actually most of the songs I have are illlegal. millions of people do it, I'll be amazed if they ever get it to stop.

The MP3 "piracy" is running into the same trouble as the speed limit: no one follows it if they can help it which makes it nearly impossible for the law to be enforced. And for my own defense, the stuff I have is - like Neph's - near imposible for me to get my hands on. Now I do also have a few bootleg series, but I'm trying to buy them legally when I can.

The mp3 file format is not inherently illegal. And Chiquita IS legal. See, mp3.com is a site for lots of indy bands to put up mp3s of their work.

That means those mp3s are there with full knowledge and consent.

You know what, **** the capatalist system. Yes, i do it. but, i dont do it that much, as i only have a shitass 56.6 modem. But, to be fair, most of the stuff is either rare (Jpop, techno) or out of print (Like Anti-Flag's "Their System Doesn't Work For You"). Or just stuff i see on tv and i dont wanna spend 15 bucks on. Like Finch. I love Finch.

I download lots of stuff, but if I don't like it I delete it, and if I do like it, I track down the cds eventually. Poverty is slowing my mission, but not stopped it yet.

I heard on the news yesterday that they're going to institute some crapass mandatory popup that's going to magically guilt you into not doing it anymore.

While it's likely that it would be instituted, it's not bloody likely it would work.

last i heard, kazaa was going to a pay service...oro don't use it...
i was on napster, but we all know what happened there...i'm not on my computer much anymore...and i work in a music store, which makes buying cd's alot easier cause I pay less for them.

sorry...this just reads like a list for ppl to look at and go, 'oh, these ppl download music, let's arrest them'.

but, i've just been buying cds when they get cheap, and have slowly been ordering bands that i've gotten mp3's for at one point or another. Janne de Arc is my current attack...cdjapan is a good place to go thru...they also take money orders...

Well, I download everything off the net. It's FREE, but I do feel sorry for those who are just loosing profit. But in the end the word FREE just takes over me and I'll do anything if it's FREE.

I download stuff, although not a huge amount. But I NEVER buy CDs because they're so, so expensive over here (the UK) - up to £3.99/$6.39 for a single, and up to £16.99/$27.20 for an album! Plus, I live in the South East - THE most expensive place in the UK to buy anything!!!

I know it's becoming a big thing that downloading illegally is costing record companies a lot of money, but hey, if it's available and it's free, then go for it.

I'd still do it no matter what cause I like J-Pop music but it's hard to find and pretty expensive. I don't have the money for it.

    So I'll never quit.
