Photoshop is, of course, the most widely known graphic design tool. You can also use Flash, and there are a few others that escape attention.

I use Photoshop. Why? Well, people have GOTTA have good reason to shell out that 600 bucks, right?

    600.
    oh my god.
u seriously think i have that kinda money?
    i could get....
    40 dvds!
    a gamecube AND an x-box AND probably a ps2!
    thats alot of money....
    but is it worth it?
like, wat "special tools" does it have?
when u make the picture smaller, does it go blurry still?
the main one i am looking for is "Transparencey", does it have that?
    yeah...

Adobe Photoshop is, by far, the best graphics program available at the moment. Paint Shop Pro and CorelDraw are also worthy of mention, but are inferior to Photoshop.

And $600 is about what any real professional tool set costs. If you go out and buy the best mechanics wrenches available, it'll cost you a lot more than that. The best musical instruments cost THOUSANDS of dollars. Artists can sink up to $100 into a single paint brush. So while it IS a lot of money, it is not an unfair price for the software. That's what a lot of people forget about software when they complain of the price: You're buying a *tool*. and good tools are not cheap.

it is very worth it...from what i've seen and messed around with, it's very nice for digital coloring and what not. and yes, it does transparency. and layers weeee

(note: if i see any talk about warez, and where to go for them, the post will be deleted and you'll be warned. warez are illegal.)

I use Flash MX it cost me 400$

my father bought it to me for my birthday

anyway I know it's inferior to photoshop but
i didn't felt intimidated in the beggining
    i downloaded photoshop ( too expensive :p)
and i deleted it cause i didn't understand a thing from it
maybe if I wasn't using PSP7 I would had found it easier :p

PS5 is generally what everyone had started out with...PS6 started to get just a little more technical...and PS7 was even more. I'm a PS6 user, myself. I can't tell you where I got it, but, trust me, had I the money (which I don't...and it seems, neither do you b_p) I would definitely have bought it. The layering helps TREMENDOUSLY in separating tasks and such. Very helpful indeed. It also comes with all these blurs and filters that really make photoediting a snap.

The very plus side to photoshop is that you can use it for pretty much everything but media (video, music) editing. Seriously. A lot of people start freehand there, instead of using Adobe Freehand. Hell, I do. It's easier, and saves space. :)

Point is, this "tool" as Ark put it, is extremely powerful. It well deserves its reputation. There are others out there that can emulate the PS look, but...you'd probably use two or three programs to get the same end effect...I use one. :D

i need something easy to use.
    is photoshop easy?
or more of a proffesional type thing?
    it sounds good.
and i have read a few reviews and it looks worth the money (ill probably rack out some monee, and buy an older version second hand or something).
    yeah.
but i need to know, is it easy to use? oh, and does it still go blurry when u shrink a picture?
    thanks.

    note:what is warez?

You might be better off using Jasc's Paint Shop Pro if you want something more powerful than paint, but a little easier to use than Photoshop.

Photoshop would be the professional choice. It does have a bit of a learning curve, as most professional packages would.

Uh..the reason pictures go blurry when you resize them is because of a bilinear or bicubic filter. Which you're better off doing anyway. Otherwise you'll just have jagged, pixelated mosaics :p

'Warez' is the term given to illegally aquired software. e.g. Downloading photoshop, or a cracked trial version without paying for it.

    Will that be all? :)
