vash is a much better aim than spike, spike has been known to miss, and vash fights unreal odds repeatedly within the first 8 episodes

Gang in the first episode

by episode 2 he's demonstrated he can dodge a bullet as the trigger is pulled (something that's pretty much impossible)

By the 4th Episode he's managed to dodge evey bullet and rocket propelled grenade an entire town can throw(fire) at him

Episode 4 he managed to dodge The Nebraska fist (travelling at 120 mph, much faster according to the manga, not to mention he managed to deflect the gargantuan thing with his shooting skills, using only a .45 long colt)

in Episode 7 he takes on the entire bad lad gang and spends about 90% of the episode beating their asses with a bullet in his side, spike couldn't even fight vicious with a bullet in his gut.

to quote wolfwood "he's fast, that sounded like a single gun shot" (it was 3 gun shots)

In short, gun to gun, Vash would win, in martial arts spike is more likely to win, however, if it's just brawling vash has the advantage of his bionic arm, giving him superior strength and he's extremely agile, as is spike (note episode 5 where th guy with the blades on his arms and legs attacks him within the plant, see how he managed to dodge/attack)

 

Indeed, they're both great characters but in comparison, Vash is too much of an *** in general.Knives tbh

 

Yeah I know all that but rememder the church shot out with spike AND at the last episoed Real Folk Blues when he walked in the building then kicked a granad and then BOOM he kick everyones A## in the building AND he even fought Vicouse and even caught his blade with his GUN, when has he ever done that UMMMMMM NEVER :anime: and I prove my point now there :dizzy2:

This is up for debate... but in all honesty, I think Spike went in with the intention of dying, so of course he would've went in without a care.

From what I've seen, Spike has more of a habit of missing a shot than Vash does and it's actually shown in the anime as we see on some occasions Vash taking note of how many shots he has left, etc. (plus he looks so much cooler reloading that reverse revolver than Spike does with his guns ;P).

Even if you give Spike other weapons, you'll have to take into account as well, Vash's hidden machine gun which I highly doubt Spike would know about. I mean, true, he might, but it's a long shot.

Though really each person has their own pluses. True, Vash fights unimaginable odds, but Spike is also shown surviving countless gunshots to him, all over his body (albeit because he was tended to be Julia, but he still survived).

Though then again, Vash has more scars to prove what he's been through, not to mention missing an arm and God only knows what happened to his organs. Though, then we have to take into account Vash ages like a bloody Elf.

Really, there's a lot of factors to take into account and it causes more headaches than its worth.

My vote is it'd probably end up a draw... or Spike and Vash would make friends.

Which reminds me; there's a rather funny and nifty Anime Music Video out there that mixes Trigun and Cowboy Bebop in a sort of Vash vs. Spike way to the tune of Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal. It's a pretty entertaining video; check it out if you can find it.

[[And a note to Notason; the only enemy Vash fought that had a sword he didn't really have much time to fight so we were unable to see if he was capable of stopping a sword with his gun, like Spike. While Spike and Vicious had several fights, Vash and Rai-Dei (I believe I spelled that right) only met for a few minutes and the fight was cut short due to the fact that Vash's Angel Arm went off, and Wolfwood executed the sword-wielder shortly after.]]

 

I think vash would win. Talking about episode 7 when he was having the duel, I doubt spike would be able to shoot and do all of the flips vash was doing with the bullet in his side, but if vash and spike was in a hand to hand fight I would think spike would win.

In the end to me they both are winners, one in gun slinging (vash) and one in hand to hand combat (spike) :anime:

This really isn't a hard question. Vash is a superhuman, who can dodge bullets at will, who never misses, who is hunted by the best hunters on the planet and just plain kicks a whole load of ***. Spike, on the other hand is far the cooler, but a better gunman he is not. He's just a man, he get's shot quite a bit, misses upon occasion, and ultimately dies. Vash could beat Spike.

 

I'd say Vash would win since he's got that machine gun arm. I would love to see Spike and Vash in a duel, it would be fascinating. Vash is so cute and humerous while Spike remains cool and serious...what a matchup! but yeah, Vash would win I think, but I hope he wouldn't kill Spike! ;_;

Yes' I've seen the video and it's quit good how the person put the sences together to make a awsome shot out..And at the end how the person put two cut out sence together to show a draw, so really now I would say draw, but a awsome fight. Both have their own way of winning, and both are good. Even "if" they did fghit Vash woulden't have the guts to pull the triger on Spike if he had him conered.So it would be a draw.

 

vash would kill spike a thousand times before he could kill him once,I still think spike is cool but vash is way better at aiming and shooting "HES AWESOME".

 

OH and vash has that awesome gun arm.

Vash....Knives?

I like Vash better, but Knives is also a good character. Knives made their guns(I think?). Vash tries not to kill, but somehow he is surrounded by death. Knives is a bad a55. got to love the bad a55es. Wolfwood rocks too ,i love his gun.
