I went to SunCoast today to look at some of the anime stuff they had and I was so excited because I saw that they finally got some Inuyasha DVDs in (usually they just have the manga). But, then I noticed that there's only one episode per DVD, and each DVD was 24.99 w/out tax.

    !?!W-T-F?!!?

    :anger2:

I love Inuyasha to death, but considering that there are 99+ eps.. It's just retarded to think of paying 27 dollars for EACH EPISODE. What are these people thinking?

That one, right? Well, you must've read wrong, or they're selling a wierd copy, since it's 3 episodes per disc. That's still not enough per-disc for a 97 episode series. Still though, that's better than the 1 per disc that you stated.

If you doubt my knowledge, check here.

And I've found it for as low as $18.74 on an online store. Shipping is like...3 bucks though. So, if you trust the internet, and have a card available for use, I *strongly* suggest that you wait a while, build up some cash, and buy in bulk.

If you want to know *where* I found it. Click here.

Yeah, I'm not an Inu Yasha watcher, but that's where you'll find some great deals. ^_^

No, that wasn't one of the one's I saw.. but I agree that even w/ 3 per disc, it's still a bit much.

The DVDs I saw.. Well, one was "Thunder Brothers", and on the back it had screen caps from the ep, and an ep description (w/ no others listed on the back and no other descriptions or screen caps, which is why I thought it was only 1 ep per disc).

There were some others too, but I don't remember what they all were right now..

actually, that's about normal for a new release anime on dvd from the company. i work at sam goody (owned by the same company that owns suncoast...we are the same pretty much..only we mainly music) and we have it for the same price. most are around 19.99 w/o tax, tho new ones are around 24.99...nothing wrong with seeing at that...prices will aalso mildly vary depending on area you live, and company. like best buy has cheaper, duh *^-^*

Yup. I definitely go for Best Buy or Sam Goody. I'm not biased at all, whatsoever. Nope!

And yeah, mildly old anime at Best Buy is around 19.00, while newer goes for about 24. Old stuff though, goes back up in price. Why that phenomenon occurs, I have no idea. But it *does* happen.

It's usually when it gets popular again that it does that.

I checked Amazon to see, and the 4th dvd is titled "The Thunder Brothers." It's probably what you saw, and I can vouch that it's got 3 episodes. It probably just summarized the first episode on the dvd. They do that. With the exception of one shot on the back of the first dvd, they're all from the first episode, and it only summarizes the first episode on the dvd.

I too recommend buying them in bulk. I only have the first one because it was a Christmas present.

Whoa...that would be considered a reasonable price from the prices I've seen at stores...the usual is 29.99w/out tax...

If you want to buy DVDs at better prices, head over to a Best Buy, they have great prices on DVDs(especially Box Sets). The only downside is they don't have too much stuff.

Heh, Kaneda, you won't be saying that in a couple of months. Honestly, there is so much hype for anime right now that Best Buy is trying to keep up with it, because it's a source of revenue that we cater to. I looked in the back myself today, and there were a few boxes of just anime. It still isn't too often that I see it, but now we usually get stuff that I wouldn't see in Best Buy at all. I mean, they do sell RahXephon, Ranma, Real Bout Highschool, FLCL, His and Her Circumstances, etc. I mean, with the exception of Ranma, would you even *think* you'd see any of those kinds of titles a year ago? Even months ago? But it's true, anime is becoming a major source of viewing for kids and adults (who come out and say they're fans of anime) and that in turn is driving up the market.

Also, if you're a Best Buy faithful, but you can't find it in the store. *Do* check Bestbuy.com. Seriously. The prices are the same as in the store (sometimes even cheaper), and the shipping is free. FREE SHIPPING! Hehehe.

http://www.bestbuy.com/movies/productInfo.asp?m=270&e=11201593 Use that as an example. His and Her Circumstances for 22.99, whereas in the store, it's already at 24.99, I think.

I know it may sound like an advertisement for my work, and that's partially true. Only because there is a larger selection than you can expect there. Then again, it might only be the store wehre I work, where there's quite a few anime fans looking around. In fact, someone stole my RahXephon box! -_-. Damn.

Oh, and yes, for the people who shop in the mall stores, I find that shopping in malls sometimes tend to drive up prices. I mean, I saw a Dragon Ball Z DVD in Suncoast a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG while back for 29.99, and see that same DVD at Best Buy for 24.99. However, if you go to Sam Goody, prices are good. Ne, BB?

MediaPlay seems to be fairly decent too, and the one I go to (but don't actually shop at) in the area is part of one of those mini-mall things where the stores are side by side on a commercial block, with the huge parking lots. Not what one normally thinks of as a mall.

Of course, there's also Amazon, which has a relatively good selection of domestic releases.

I'll have to check on the BestBuy store (to find one around here), but yeah, the SunCoast I went to is in a big mall in Meridian, MS.
And most of their new DVDs are about 29.99 each...

It would make so much more sense if they would list ALL the eps on each DVD when there is more than one on them, is all I have to say about the marketing strategy they're pulling w/ the Inu DVDs.

I'm definitely glad there is probably more than one ep on each disc, then.:p

However, I think I've just about spoiled myself w/ the convenience of just recording each ep as it comes on Mon-Thurs on CN. I've got about 20+ eps now on recorded tape (though, NONE of which are in very good order, of course) and I guess that's just what I'll keep doing in the meantime (until I finally become obsessed to the point that I have to have the DVDs, like it was w/ Cowboy Bebop).

The thing is, they do list each episode on the back of the dvd, but they don't summarize them all. If the first dvd (which I own) is any indication, they summarize the first episode on the dvd, and then list underneath that the titles of all the episodes included. I'd have to check at MediaPlay to see if it's the same on the other dvds. It should be.

I must have just missed it, then. I mean, I thought it was crazy to only have one ep, and I did look to see if there were others over and over again, but I guess I just.. I don't know. But I think you're right, it just doesn't make sense (thus my original responce, which prompted this thread) for one ep to be on each disc.. Somehow I must have overlooked the listings.
