I recently bought an import on Ebay. Star Ocean EX. I know that a while back, someone said to avoid the ones from Singapore. The imports I got were from a US seller, but for future refrences, does anyong know why I should avoid those? :D

I was the one who said that. I said it from past experiences particularly Dai Guard and the Escaflowne movie. The translations from Singapore tend to use fragmented english that sometimes is hard to understand. They also screw up names. They either directly translate the name to its exact meaning. For example there is a character in Dai Guard named Ooyama. They translated his name to mountain. Other times they translate the name to mandarin. I just get annoyed by that kinda thing. Its distracting.

Those bootleg HK DVD's are a mixed bag.
Stuff like the Esca. TV and Gundam 0083/0080 have fecking awful translations, while Inital D and 08th MS Team are pretty damn good.

Visual and audio quality is generally decent with the ocaissional exception, most of 'em are ripped from the Jap. region 2 DVD's or quite often LD's.

I think so. If you dont mind taking the risk of getting a bad sub job its great for saving money on long series. Also you can find regular dvds cheaper as well.
