FLCL ep 2 resynched

I got sick of episode two having audio synch problems, so you may be happy to know I used virtual dub to align the audio and video! It sure is a blast to see it play correctly. New version also lopped 10 megs off the size, I hope those 10 megs didn't take too much quality with them

Ah... you fixed it t00 late to save me, but hurry and get ICQ or find some other way to send it to Urashima so that he can get the space freed up on his drive (he won't burn FLCL 2 since it's messed up).

Yeah, I suppose I could find some way to send it. It does introduce small artifacts at two places I could see.. oh well. I think it is worth it to have the noise match the action. What do you mean, to late? burn another CD, I will. Actually I just put 1-3 on a video CD. Doesn't lose any quality, the files are in 352 by 240, which is VCD format already..

Anyway, files that big over amodem might suck, now that I'm home.. maybe I'll just post instructions on how to do it yourself. Get VirtualDub first, lemme know when/if you have it.

I've got VirtualDub, but practically no hard drive space right now; and Urashima's system will be out of action till after Monday at the least (since he's basically homeless while his building gets painted). One big problem is his burner refuses to support 80-minute discs fully; I guess I could burn a VCD with just Ep. 2 and some videos. However, Angelic Layer and Noir are taking up the priority for me at the moment.

 

OK, since you have it, here are some instructions, do them whenever:


In Virtual Dub, open the version of ep 2 kei kun burned for me. (the newer one I think)
Then, under options, make sure "synch to audio" is NOT checked. Under audio, select compression, and set it to MP3 (or whatever, mp3 is fine)

Under video menu, select compression and set to divx Low Motion. That is what it is already, and has better detail. Then, also under video, select frame rate and set it to 29.972 I have fiddled around with values on either side of that and it seems best. experiment if you like, but it's pretty dang close. Like perfect imho.


under file, select save avi, and you're good to go.

Artifacts appear right before mamimi kisses canti, and right at the beginning of canti's transformation (really small there tho) Other than that it looks about exactly the same, and sounds rad.

Oh, and my Ep. 6 appears to be screwed - it keeps crashing my players. I'll probably have to redo it.

 

There is some major suckage with my VCD version of ep 6.. My tv cuts off a small stripe at the top and bottom of the picture.. never noticed until I played ep 6 on it, and the bottom of the subtitles was gone. Aargh why are they so close to the edge on ep 6 (and only ep 6) ?? Well, my new tv out cable made it all superfluous, it displays the divx just fine.
