So who here is into Epic Metal Besides myself and Mordeth!..

And For those who are not sure what Epic metal is and would like to find out what it is look up Hammerfall or Dream theater.

Blind Guardian was cool live :)

Dream Theater, btw, isn't 'epic metal', it's progressive rock :p Great stuff nonetheless, though, seen them in concert twice, and they put on an awesome show each time.

Yeah I'm gonna have to break my silence to post on this.
Finally other people who listen music about warriors fighting monsters and sh*t.
Most people who hear it just can't get past the cheesyish lyrics and the good old fashioned metal vocals. Ignorant bastards, screw those guys.

But I knew that it's a geek thing. Geeks love sh*t like that. Especially gamers(RPGs).

Actually a ton of the guys at the Blind Guardian concert were older powermetal guys, people who've probably never played an rpg in their lives :p

    *sigh*
Okay, how many older powermetal guys are here? none? thought not.

How many geeks we got posting? more than would admit it(be proud of what you are)

you see why I only singled out geeks?

Sorry to sound like a cynical prick. But use a bit of common sense.

That's the only part of your post I was replying to, I was not saying that people HERE who listen to such music are the older powermetal crowd. I was merely pointing out that your stereotype wasn't exactly correct. Epic metal is hardly a geek interest, it appeals to a rather large and diverse crowd.

No offense taken, I think you merely misunderstood my point. I'm not trying to be anal about it, just pointing out that it's a very broad interest, and hardly something geeks can claim as our own.

I don't want to keep this going on or anything. But you missunderstood me also(ah the wonder of the internet)

By saying it's a geek thing I wasn't saying it was exclusivly so.
Gaming is a geek thing, but others do it. Same thing.
I was just saying that power metal, prog rock/metal does topics that geeks love fantasy, sci fi etc.
