hey, i borrowed this idea from the InuYasha forum :anime: i will ask a question and whoever gets it right first can give out the next question, and you repeat this over and over and over. get it?

    okay, first question

how did Van end up with Merle?

This seems a little bit like the Esca Trivia thread, but since that one is pretty old, why the hell not. ^^ I'm assuming I should go ahead and post a question and my answer in the same post to prevent repeated "Correct, post a new question now!" posts, and you can smack me if you think I got it wrong. XD

Answer: Merle was orphaned at a young age and taken in as a companion for Van. The exact circumstances are not described, but Van makes reference to the possibility that Merle was a war orphan.

New question: Name six of Allen's crewmembers on the Crusade. (Any alternate spelling is fine.)

Note: out of courtesy, I'm going to point out now that anything spoiler-ful should probably have spoiler tags or a warning... It's easy to forget that in a thread like this.

i'll say this early so i won't get in trouble **SPOILERS!** oh, and gomenasai! i really wasn't intending to make a copy thread! ..grr...baka me.

yes, you're correct Dilandau. Also, another thing to add to your answer is that Balgus found Merle and brought her to Van.

The answer to your question is Gaddes, Reedan, teo, Oruto, Kio, Pyle, and an extra, Katz.

    okay, my question

    Why were Folken's wings black

It's not really a copy, just similar. The other one was less engaging, really, so hopefully this will encourage some much-needed posting in this forum. XD

I was wondering if Katz/Katsu would be remembered. ^^

I think I'll leave your question alone for someone else to answer - otherwise it'll be just the two of us going back and forth. XD *creeps back into her dark corner and waits for another excuse to ramble about Escaflowne*

They turn black once his life is shortened- when he's been playing with fate. I also think it represents his persona- his once white wings have been poisoned by the darkness which has engulfed him.

Ah, and I guess I ask a question now?

What is the time ratio, Gaia : Earth? (In other words, __Gaia days = __Earth hours ect).

Yay, a third person has joined the game. grr, we need more people here.

Eek, i'm not really sure what the answer to your question is. All i know is that the timings between Gaea and Earth is really messed. ~*~SPOLIERS~*~

in one episode, Hitomi returns home, and it she returned the day before she went to Gaea, and had to relive that day. so i would say that Gaea's time is a lot faster than Earth's because when Hitomi returned apparently a fight had taken place, and both her and Van were in a city burning down and Van was only gone for a minute.

that's the best answer i can get, but i know it doesn't really answer the question too good....well, i tried the least.

Actually (not at all sure, it's been a while since I've seen this show), weren't their times almost the exact same? I mean, yes, the spoiler in the above post *did* happen, but if I remember correctly...
Didn't she return to the time right before she left? If this were the case, then I wouldn't really say that it necessarily means a time difference.
And I remember in one of the earlier episodes, her boyfriend (I can't remember his name; as I said, it's been a while) pages her after she's been there for several days with a message similar to "Where are you? Where have you been?" And then there's the scene where her one friend asks her mom if she'd returned home at all during that time. So, from this, I'd have to say my guess would be one Gaea day = one Earth day.

EDIT: Sorry, have to point it out. Post number 666.

Well, as far as I'm aware, there's no difference that's ever mentioned. However...

Remember Hitomi's grandmother, who went to Gaea and met Leon (Allen's father)? Well, on the first day that she was transported to Gaea, she had been walking home from a summer festival in a fancy kimono that she'd worn. Much, much later, after Leon has met Isaac and is finally on his way home (of course, we all know he doesn't get there, but eh...), he wishes to see her one more time. Keep in mind that weeks or months have passed - but when she appears again, Hitomi's grandma is still dressed as she was the day they first met!

Add this to the fact that Hitomi spends weeks on Gaea, then wishes herself back to Earth and relives a period of one or two days - I think that the discrepancies in timing there have nothing to do with the actual passage of time between the two worlds, but with the wishes and how they were made.

And yes, Amano does page Hitomi wondering where she's been, PRIOR to the abovementioned spoiler. So we can't see Earth-Gaean time as a completely linear concept.

    Sorry for taking so long. ^_^;;

It was a trick question, actually, but it stirred up an interesting conversation. o_0 My apologies.

If you want my two cents, I believe it all has to do with what the person dreams... and where they wish to go to. The power of the pendant is time/space travel- so time ratios don't matter anyway.

Now technically, it IS a moon, and Earth is Earth. So, 365 days would be one rotation.

So that would be the Gaia: Earth time ratio. The Moon: Earth time ratio.

So, Dilandau, I guess you're up.

Alright... While we're on the subject of Gaean time, how about answering this:

By the Earth calendar, during which months do the events of the series occur, and what event in the series pinpoints an actual date to determine this by?

EDIT: Agh, I killed the thread. XD

    ok, here goes.

it has been forever since i saw this series.

i'm go9ing to guesse June, July, August and September; i believe there is one scemne in which HJitomi returns and the leaves are changing. Also, she runs track and usually track is a spring sport.

Correct, although that's only half the question. ~_^

When Hitomi receives the message from Amano on her pager early in the series, the date given on the pager's display is June 1st. From there, we can calculate (estimating by the day cycles seen and the logical length of time gaps, plus Hitomi's mention later on that they spend at least 3 weeks in Asturia around the time of Millerna and Dryden's wedding) that the series runs at least until the beginning of August - not including the time elapsed between her return home and her final vision of Van.

So, please go ahead and post the next question. ^^

Y'know, for the sake of alleviating my boredom, I'm gonna post another question. XD It seems to me that it might be better if anyone could post a new question after the previous one's been answered.

Name two Dragonslayers besides Dilandau, Gatti, Shesta, Miguel, Dalet, Guimel, Biore, and Jajuka. Alternate name spellings do NOT count.

Well, "Viole" is the Americanized spelling of "Biore," actually. XD But I suppose I should answer my own question - maybe the thread will come back to life then, eh?

Aside from the commonly-known Dragonslayers, there are also Ryuon and Kagero. Ryuon is the guy with the dark, wavy hair who appears in the movie - but he's also in the series, albeit blonde, and only shows up for about one second. XD Kagero actually had two scenes, but the second was cut to accomodate the series' running time. Both of them appear in the scene where Dilandau is admonishing his men for doing sloppy work at Fanelia - they're the two Dragonslayers standing to either side of his chair.

I'll make sure to keep an eye out for those 2 dragonslayers. So, who answers the next question? well i guess you since i didn't get the answer. This time make the question a bit more easier, so that I can at get it this time, heh. When summer break comes, you can go back to your hard questions :catgirl:

*chuckle* Alright, I'll try for something a little bit less obscure. XD

How 'bout two, just in case? :3 Bonus points for answering both.

1.)What is a piscus? (Hint: Piscus appear in episode 16, I think.)

2.) On a leviship, what must be done to the levistones to change the ship's altitude?
