After the 9-11 terrorism shnazz, up until now, I've flown on 16, short, airplane flights. I decided to test the awesomely "heightened" airport security by smuggling my trusty lil snap-off blade with me on most of those flights (in my carry-on). The blade is encased/held in a bright green plastic handle/case, can extend up to just under 3 inches long, is sharp enough to slash a lethal cut on a pilot's neck from one side to the other, and narrow enough to easily sink between a pilot's ribs towards the heart. :) (Don't get the wrong idea now... that's all just to give an idea of the damage a terrorist could do if he/she were me.)

 First flight after 9-11, I passed thru the metal-detection/x-raying checkpoint, got searched, but passed. Then at the flight gate, I was searched again, and passed. The security guard probably even saw my blade, but didn't recognize it as one. ;)

 Second attempt, I again had my snap-off blade in my carry-on luggage. Even just at the second time, I was amazed at how they didn't recognize the obvious, almost parallelogram-shape of the blade.

 Third attempt, everything went smoothly. I even told my friend, also waiting for his flight, that I had my lil trusty "friend" with me. Freaked the gravy out of him.

 Fourth attempt, still doing great! I was nearly ready to whip it out and jokingly hold someone hostage, but that was all in my head, heheheh!

    Fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth attempts, I still carried my snap-off blade, but this time I detached the blade from the handle (the blades are replaceable/disposable anway), and had fun playing "the transporter" by finding cool places to hide the blade part. Each time, I never got caught nor even searched.

Before my last two flights or so, I decided to finally end my lil test. I grade Hawaii's international airport security with: a big, fat, F, cuz with THAT kind of attention to people's hand-carry articles, a group of terrorists could have EASILY outfitted themselves with two snap-off blades each, gotten on any flight whether day or night, kill a dozen people on their flight in less than 3 seconds, and who knows what...

So, has anyone else ever smuggled anything on a flight? ;)

... Bottle opener shaped like an axe, didnt smuggle, just didnt think of it as a weapon... just handy thing for beer, sharpened the blade though.

& anyways theres no need to smuggle things, for in my job i deal with the food trolleys... & air canada (The dumb ****s) disposed of the metal knives but kept the forks foolish fools of foolishness. & Air america (Or american airlines... dunno just says "AA") has nice pointy cork screws.

My Dad has gotten through with a knife. He didn't know he was carrying it (he carries it everywhere, in case he actually requires it to cut someone, and would never use it on people). He's done this at least six times.

It's sharp as hell, too. The knife, I mean. I've got the scar to prove it. (I was playing around, it was my fault, an accident)

I don't do this, but I know for a fact that someone in the family stole a spoon once. >.>; Smuggling from hotels is more common -- still something I don't do.

I beilve what NoeNoddle wasn't sumgling because if it was pre-9/11 you could have a knife in the passanger section as ong as it was less than 6in (I think) and to ansewer your no.

It's easy to get things into the country. Just put it in your bag that go under the plane.

Last year i manged to smuggle a Katana out of Spain and bring it back home. Probably wasn't smart but i fell in love with that thing.

But this proves how east it is to get things into the country.

After the 9-11 security increase, customs people were finding people with cutlery sets and all kinds of potential weapons...kinda thoughless.

    i am 15 .....right...and this happened when i was 13
i was coming back to ireland from germany....
i had like 5 cans of beer....1 bottle of wine......and ciggarettes for my mum.
i also had this swiss (rhymes) army knife in my pocket...(i carry it everywhere),
i went through the place where they check you out, went through, they put my bag through,
they did not even notice a thirteen year old with 4 beer can shapes and 1 bottle of wine and about 20 loose packets of ciggarettes.....and a penknife...
i was laughing so hard...coz when we got back to ireland my mother kept asking how i got the ciggarettes in the first place and how i got them onto the plane...
them people in munich are funny...

Haha, my old thread is back. Recently on a plane ride, I brought just my backpack with me, thinking I had left all of my lil blades at my apartment. (my box-cutter, my snap-off blade, my Xacto knife, etc.) After the flight, I looked through my backpack and found that I had two blades in there! I thought "hey fellahs!"

I never managed to smuggle anything potentially dangerous on an aeroplane, Birtish (scottish) security is very, uh.. secure. They remove nail-scissors, screwdrivers (the ones you get in xmas-crackers) and some necklaces if they think it looks like it could maybe be used to hit someone with.
Silly really considering they still give you cutlery with the meals. :glazed:

Edit: and lets face it, you could knock people out with a hard-back book, and stab them with the broken edge of a smashed up plastic cup from the meal.
(very sharp plastic, sharper than my scissors and that is saying something)
