    Hi guys!

Question, how many of you have played Eye of the Beholder (1,2,3)?

I've played some of the Final Fantasy ones, but these other 1st person games really suck you into the environment.

Who can forget the echo of the skeleton warriors banging on the floor? Or the crawling of the giant ants, when you suddenly bump on one and hear its chirp?

Or the buzzing of the giant wasps?

In my opinion, I think the EOB games have a greater replay value than the FF ones.

    What do you think?

I've played the first Eye of the Beholder, but don't think I've gotten farther than the first level or two that has giant spiders and driders. The interface took some getting used to, so I thought combat was a little tough, especially trying to quickly cast spells. I think the engine was probably a bit better suited to a one-person game like Dungeon Hack. But it wasn't a bad game by any stretch; I did enjoy what I played.

They were great (based on my experience with the first two)...and the graphics were awe-inspiring at the time. I haved to agree with YK on the Dungeon Hack comment, however. The engine sometimes made juggling the up-to-six characters a chore. DH did have an improved version of the engine as well, but it never did quite set the atmosphere like EOB did...

Although they are great games, I must say the replay value is not as much as I would get from an RPG like the FF series...the story is much more developed in the latter series, while EOB suffered like many classic PC RPGs....the story was simple, short, and scattered.

I LOVED the EoB series to death! The greatest RPG in my Amiga days :)

I had started with Dungeon Master, but the disks got corrupt and we spent ages looking for the game again, but eventually we found EoB instead, which turned out to be much better (plus we all knew and loved the ad&d rules)

Just thinking about how those Giant Spiders use to creep me out back then. Those games were so immersive, wish they'd do an update...something along the lines of Morrowind...but with better plot! ;)

I've always really liked the first person role playing games. The first one I played was Daggerfall and it's still one of my fav's, I need to check out Morrowind as well...

I think that I've seen my bro play Eye of Beholder, but I've never tried it myself really... I should look for it.

IIRC you could beat one of the Eye of the Beholder games in 5 minutes if you had a map and a bit of a walkthrough, though I may be confusing it for another D&D based game...
