I'm terribly sorry if I've missed the thread for this movie, but I definitely one to be found floating around.

Fahrenheit 9/11 is another film by Michael Moore concerning American politics and world events before, on and after September 11th. It focuses mostly on George W. Bush and his war on terrorism.

It could be said that this movie is very controversial, if you're a fan of President Bush, but I think all in all, though biased, it gives a good view of many recent events in and concerning the United States.

I've just been to see the movie myself this evening with my brother, and I must say, I found it to be awesome. It was fantastic. I think that it's a must-see for anyone.

I am planning on catching this film this friday but unfortunately i feel kind of sorry for people b/c it is not being shown in all cities

I think its really important to see this film so we can all learn the truth, i love that clip with him talking about hunting down terrorists and then he says now watch my golf swing, it shows what kind of a country we truly we are.

America hates Micheal Moore. Europe loves him. And I cannot agree more. Bowling for Columbine just rocked. Not to mention his books. Trurly amazing. I so have to see Fahrenheit 9/11.

If Michael Moore didn't fill his books and movies full of misrepresentations or outright lies, I might go see this movie. But Moore, for whatever reason, after *****ing about lies, chose to fill his work full of lies. This isn't a pro-Bush rant. This is an anti-Moore rant, because I cannot stand someone who tries to pass off propaganda as documentary. www.bowlingfortruth.com <--read that, and tell me what you think of Moore now.

Watched it, liked it, and well, for any of those people who thinks Bush is a *ahem* of a president, this prooves it. Even if Mike Moore based the movies on lies, not all of it isn't true....But just watching Bush looking around stupidly just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. But truely, for all those people like me who thought war of just a simple matter of battle and conquer then I suggest you watch it, you just might learn sumthin'. :anime:

This is for Neph, it is quite true that Micheal Moore lied in his movie...however I am not putting it past the people who made that site to distort many of the "facts" also.

    I'm glad you aren't biased.

What, you mean the scenes of Iraqi children laughing and flying kites? Funny how Moore also forgot the scenes of beheadings, rape and torture to go along with it.

(Edit - theres something several wrong when someone tries to portray Iraq as a happy utopia. It'd be like someone documenting my college life and only showing the parties, the high project marks and the sexy female classmates, but none of the long nights of work, the times when I don't have the cash to afford more than ramen for over a week, or hangovers)

    Prove it. Then I'll care.

    Pfft. Owned.

Anyways, I have no real interest to see this movie, as I generally agree with Neph, and also I think Moore is a dumb f*ck. I watched multiple(being 2) interviews on TV with him, and I just plain couldn't stand him. And I'm sure as heck not gonna give him my money.

Anyways, I'm interested in seeing 'Michael Moore Hates America', whenever that comes out.

I've not seen any micheal moore movies and i've only read stupid white men

judging from that book, it is true that he misrepresents certain people/peoples but he actually say's that he may be doing so, remember moore was involved with political parties directly opposed to bush so of course it will be biased as meaikoh said right at the start of this thread

as with anything claiming to be the be all and end all of truth it's best to read through with common sense and a pinch of salt. not all the things he says are lies and by no means is all of it true

only people with enough common sense to not take everything at face value should see moore's work

(however i dislike seeing his mug shot on the cover of his books it makes me thing what an arrogant self-centered twit. but there we go)

I was a moron and I thought it was "Farenhiet 451".

Turned out to be, "5million reasons why Bush Sucks".

You know what I think? The people intelligent enought to concern themselves with such subjects already knew ALL that, and had their own opinions.

I think the goal of his movie was to boost Moore's popularity (If you'd call it that...) in America.

It worked. But also, now there are a million and a half morons running around regurgitating that movie and acting like they know what they're talking about.

    I. HATE. THAT. I can't stand people like that. -_- *twitch* So I'm not a happy camper nowadays, and I tend to flip out on people at school. xD

But I think he made a good point or two. Although I've known for a long time about how they get recruits, it was interesting to see him try and ask the Reps about their kids.

OK. I'll quote from that site and give some answers to it. But before i start accusing the site of a political response made by Bush, here are the answers:

I think they missed the point. The point is that if a 6-year-old can murder a girl his age, so can do a guy with NO criminal records whatsoever. When those guys at the bank sell that shotgun, do they do an exhaustive research on the person's family, perhaps some relative search for violent behavior? No.

Also, Bushnells (hmmm that does sound like Bush, doesn't it) never explained why a bank would sell a gun.

To plan a crime requires about a day. What's four hours?

    ---
OK, now for the interview with the Canadian kids.
    Then Bushnell says:
That's not the point, dummy. The point is that what Moore is saying there, is the canadian POINT OF VIEW. (Not necessarily that they're right. I won't get into Iraq business, but I do bet that if Bushnell came into M2A he would either be amazed or resented at the people in here who criticized bush and the bombardings of Iraq). Canadians view americans as VIOLENT. And it's no wonder, with those statistics. Bad Bushnell. You accuse Moore as a liar, but you go and make a Straw man of his arguments.

    OK, now for Iraq.

    . Hmmm, Ad-hominem. Anyway..
Another straw man. I think that's not what Moore intended the audience to believe. But the fact that the US had provided Iraq with weapons ealier... later, when Saddam turns against them, he is "the enemy". This is what I saw in the documentary. That the US is training people when it fits them, and attacks the same people when they find it convenient.

    And now, my favorite.

OK, so Bushnells dismisses ALL the training and economical/weapons/etc support that Osama had at one time, for "some kind of dealing". OK let's get some things straight. Would Osama just FORGET his CIA training and DISMISS it just because it was taught by the US? Of course not. Training is where you learn to do things. It's a quite logical statement that Osama used his former CIA training (altho, he may have used other non-CIA training) to smash the towers.

Ok. I think this should be enough. "Bowling for Lies" is _NOT_ an attempt to know the truth. But rather an attempt to dismiss just another man who opposes Bush's _ILLEGITIMATE_ ruling. (How many votes made him the winner? Minus huh? )

What Richard Bushnells doesn't say, is that there are OTHER sources of news independent from Michael Moore, that address some of the dealings of the CIA with Iraq, Osama, Pinochet... etc.

So implying that EVERYONE who agrees with Moore is being fooled by him (that goes for you Neph), is simply dismissing the facts. True, I don't have my sources handy, but simply because I did not jot them down when they appeared on TV, doesn't mean that I'm being misinformed.

I'd write a more thorough defense in favor of BFC, but frankly I don't have the time, nor the money that the Bush proponents have handy.

So long, "Bowling for Lies". Case closed! <--- yeah it's a stupid closing phrase that makes me sound right, but what the heck... i always wanted to say that! :p

    POST DATA.
http://www.lyingliar.com/ <--- the "sister site" for "Bowling for Truth". Turns out it's a pro-Bush site, and it also links to http://www.pabaah.com/ (Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti American Hollywood). <--- In other words, CENSORSHIP.

Well, it certainly it's not illegal to give a link to "information" that is biased, Neph, but at least it's the duty of the poster to inform us about that. (Being judge and part at the same time?). Frankly, I'd really like to know if there's a more trustable source than bowlingfortruth.com for bashing - pardon me, criticizing - Michael Moore.

I see much of Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11 to be an act by Moore to amplify the distrust of Bush in the time for war. He uses 9 parts whatever lies he has at his disposal, adds 1 part of truth so people can use that to think the rest is true, and adds 1 part purely scathing insults. I don't like Bush, but he's just taking advantage of the situation, not telling the truth. Then again, the media does that all the time.

I think his first part is mostly assumptions, but the second part is v. good. What one of the best parts is when he talked to the senator about the patriot act. I dislike bush and I wouldnt mind him being thrown out and any way I could possibly get him out has to be doing something good. go green party.

I think it might just be me, but that sounds a bit like... oh, let's say... someone, back in the the appropriate time, being against slavery, but his point not being valid because he was seen talking to a black man.

Or the idea of someone wanting to get involved with World War II and stop Hitler being absurd and pointless, because s/he had a friend who was Jewish.

Or someone being against the invasion of Iraq being condescended because he knows people and is friendly with people from the Middle East. "You like those people, your opinion doesn't matter!"

If people care so much about the relations to other places, then they will look into it. Afterall, if you want to play that way, it can get much deeper. So I advise you to prevent it from being such. Post your opinion, but there's no need for stinging sarcasm (which I thought you were above), and... well... Hell, you sound worse than me! (And that's saying something)

I'd, honestly, like to see, then, a reliable site that's Pro-Moore, if the Anti-Moore sites are just plain bloody bollocks.

Well, it certainly is not illegal to post references of sister-sites to a site given for information... but perhaps a little common courtesy would be called for when doing such.

And just for further note... no, I haven't seen the movie. No, I don't plan to. Last thing I need is to see someone else complaining and trying to sound smart, that's MY job. And... y'know... I guess Dr. Phil, too. He's ****ing dope, yo'.

Hell, I don't like Bush either... but... y'know, I don't need a movie of truth or lies, whichever, to tell me what to think, y'know what I'm saying? Good. 'cause I don't.
